I wonder if Martin's focus is particularly on Gomez and Gio, and by playing musical chairs with their wingers and noticeably giving them d-oriented linemates since moving Pouliot off, he isn't saying to them that there are no excuses, they as a pair need to generate offence. Nobody's going to be blaming Darche, Pyatt or Moen for the line failing to score, whereas Pouliot would be taking heat for it.

In a funny way, he's protecting Pouliot from being the goat for the line sucking. Personally, and I may be part of a very small minority, I thinnk Pouliot's been doing what the team asked of him so far. He's hitting, he's back-checking with effort if not huge success, and he's getting into places to score, even if he hasn't finished.

If Gio and Gomez start playing better, I expect to see Pouliot get a longer look on a line with them. If they don't... Pouliot probably still gets another shot at it. After that Eller's a definite possibility. Pax too, but it would mean sending Darche down.

To be honest, I havent followed the devils much and thought this hadnt been settled yet, last game I caught on NHL Center Ice they had 15 skaters ( I think it was their 3rd game)

Sorry about that!

i feel this one will be another Mtl vs NJ snooze fest. Mtl wins 2-1

I say cammy gets the first goal( he's due for one)

Second goal is a garbage goal that somehow beats Brodeur who usually plays like a beast at the BC.

GO HABS GO!

Two thoughts. First, I think theer's not a single top line player to be found among Moen, Pyatt, and Darche. They contribute too little offensively. Second, I'm a bit concerned about playing the Devils. They've had several days off to practice and I expect them to be better offensively than they've been recently, And, of course, Brodeur has always been a big obstacle for the Habs.

Feel good about this game against the Devils with their shorthanded lineup, the Habs have been much better against them the last few years. Brodeur is finally on the decline and their defence is suspect. I hope the boys work out the second line issue as well as the PP tonight. Go Habs!

If JM really doesnt wanna put Pouls on that line( which i feel he still deserves to be there) then i dont know why he doesnt try Boyd there and keep Eller playing center which is his natural position....

The Devils are dressing a full 20 tonight. AV, Sal, and Rolston are still out injured, but it's mostly the full team going.

He leads the team in hits, but he's passive. 7 more than O'bryne, (but 2 more games) and 8 more than Lapierre and Pleks, in the same amount of game. But of course, he's passive and everyone else is a gun-hoe to kick some ass.

Centre ice is still free, so I suggest you take this opportunity to watch the game tonight.

However, he does fall a lot, but so does Gorges. It's so sad it's funny.

I know, I just like seeing Devils fans correct everybody all the time, like when they are accused of being a trap team, I thought Habs fans were sensitive.

what's worse than watching the trap ? watching the trap being performed with a short bench

Devils = trap + short bench

Going to the game tonight. Red seats too!! So excited. Here's hoping it's as nice as last time I went (Montreal VS Ottawa in their 2008-2009 season. I had about the same seats)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjg8K-NC0xo

For a first time at the bell centre, that was a crazy game to watch.

One of the Devils beat writers mentioned there was a huge crowd of autograph seekers outside the Devils hotel a little while ago. Anybody know what hotel that would be?

I dont understand that
Probably giving him time to get used to the NHL before giving him that responsibility. I think Eller has the pressure of being traded for Halak so they don't want to throw him in the top lines too quick to add more pressure/expectations.
