I think Lundqvist is due for a Lundqvist-like game. He hasn't played that well yet this year. Sauer in place of Eminger should help defensively too. I'm thinking the Rangers get badly outplayed but win 2-1 in a shootout.

Where do you feel the team failed?

Aside from Eminger's coverage on the 2nd and 3rd goals, I thought the team adjusted to the injuries quite well and put together a competent effort against a far superior team.

Far superior when rested which they were not. I feel like the Rangers failed to take advantage of a road weary opponent. It showed that Colorado was tired and Sacco made adjustments to the strategy starting in the 2nd period. They sat back and played a more defensive style. They did not attack as much as usual. Granted the injuries hurt the Rangers, and perhaps lackluster was too harsh of a word (however I think it sums up the start of the season quite well).

Eminger is easy enough to blame but the team as a whole did not play a solid game. I would rate it a C+. I am afraid that the current situation might prove to be too much for this young squad, can Dubinsky, Callahan and Anisimov carry this team? I'm not so sure.

I'm not saying I want to see anyone injured, but I really hope armstrong gets "his." I still do not like the hit he put on gaborik. He better keep his head up. This is going to be a physical game.

On a side note, I did not realize Staal was given the "A."

I just want to see a strong game from the youth of this team tonight resulting in a win.

I need some positive vibes going forward, its only the 5th game of the season for christs sake. I cant become disenchanted this early.

ROFL! Sending Boogy after Kessel is pretty gutless ... sending him after Armstrong or Orr is another story.

GL Rangers! You'll need it

LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

A win would be nice, but with the way this roster looks, that will be a pretty difficult thing to do. All I ask for is consistent 100% effort from every player.

Hopefully Torts uses Boogard effectively and sends him out against Armstrong.

Indexing it against games that I would describe as lackluster, it was an improvement. I was actually kind of surprised, but your point about the Avs "taking their foot of the gas" is certainly accurate.

Bleed RangerBlue called this game a character check for guys like Dubinsky and I agree. I'm guessing Torts will tell the first line that they're the ones expected to set a tone for the game. How they respond will probably the real story when it's over.

You obviously didnt watch the games....i understand what your saying about colorado changing there strategy but the rangers went hard for most of the game with a completely depleted team.

Is this team a playoff team no.....do they try hard yes.

All I'm trying to say is it wasn't a pathetic effort that we have seen so often by this team. I am usually so angry after loses because it looks like they don't try hard but after this loss i felt they put out their best effort happened to come up short.

A loss is a loss but still it was a good game. If eminger hadn't **** the bed on those last two goals they might've pulled it out.

I was at the game and if that's us playing hard with or without Gaborik then we've got bigger issues then some think. To me, that looked like a pretty poor effort outside of the 2nd period.

I didn't watch the game? Alright... I watch every game and win or lose I never change the channel. It wasn't an embarrassing performance I will give you that but in my eyes it wasn't as close as some think which is understandable with the injuries. But they will have to pick it up a notch if they want to win these games shorthanded. Gaborik wasn't exactly lighting it up before his injury so using that as an excuse is only half fair. Had a sliding defenseman not wiped out Anderson then the Rangers very well could have been shut out... It goes both ways. They didn't get any lucky bounces but sometimes you have to work hard and earn them.

Its not gutless at all imo. My feeling is if a guy takes out our best player you take out theres. Im not saying go Bertuzzi on his ass but you need to let teams know around the league not to mess with our guys. Going after Armstrong or Orr proves nothing and is expected....going after Kessel shows Torts and Co. is not afraid to send a loud message.

Of course this team wouldn't be smart enough to do something like that but it is how they should play it. Send warnings to other teams not to mess with our guys.

Biron gets the start? Rangers ready to goon it up? Protect the King.

I kind of hope so... don't want to see anyone get seriously injured, but I do think the Rangers should beatdown on Armstrong and Kessel.... all hell could break loose
