But they will have to pick it up a notch if they want to win these games shorthanded. Gaborik wasn't exactly lighting it up before his injury so using that as an excuse is only half fair. Had a sliding defenseman not wiped out Anderson then the Rangers very well could have been shut out... It goes both ways. They didn't get any lucky bounces but sometimes you have to work hard and earn them.
They did work hard and to say that its only half fair is ridiculous.

Gaborik plays against the top guys every single game. That leaves the other lines Anisimov, Stepan etc. ...to play against the lower lines. Gaborik has been much of the reason that we actually have some secondary scoring this year. Now Anisimov is out against there top guys and honestly i dont think a line of dub-ani-cally is that intimidating to most if not all top players in the league.

Losing Gaborik, Prospal and Drury which is basically all veteran presence on this team really is depleting. If your expecting these guys to come out flying every game and score a ton of goals and put up good defense and win the majority of these games without Gabs your only fooling yourself.

Compared to a good team did the rangers play well against colorado....no......for what they are they played pretty decent.

Agreed.

One or more of Staal, Girardi, Dubinsky, Callahan, Del Zotto, and Anisimov have to raise their game to a higher level beyond what we expect from them.

It's not enough for them to play a spirited but secondary role to the vets who have come from out side.

For example, I loved the game Dubi played against Colorado. He was creating chances but he has to finish at what I'll call a key moment in a tight game.

This is where leaders emerge on hockey teams.

It's their time.

I've come to the conclusion I really hate leaf fans after reading some of the crap on their boards.

I actually thought they were knowledgeable and fair. But after reading through their board for an hour, I realized I was way off base. Some of the comments they are making are just plain stupid and immature.

It went from a good game to being pretty decent? Ok.

I am more than aware of the fact that the 2nd line now faces the top defensive talent of other teams. That's obviously quite the challenge, and no where have I said I expect this team with or without Gaborik, Drury, or Prospal to score a ton of goals.
What I was getting at and you clearly disagree is that this team hasn't performed up to it's abilities thus far and the game against Colorado was no different.

Armstrong didn't want to fight Avery. I would be really surprised to see him drop the gloves with Prust. I doubt that happens.

The only thing I want to see besides a win is Staal and Girardi hitting Kessel. Who cares about going after Armstrong. They need to play a physical game against Kessel. I'm not even talking about anything dirty. He was skating too free and easy last game.

I think part of it has to do with the fact that it is 2:30 in the afternoon and there are already half a dozen leaf fans reading and posting in our GDT thread.

Aren't there some Kaberle for Weber+First trade proposals to make?

Ummm were calling for Kessel's head because your "pest" took out our best player for nearly a month last game.

Those are warranted....and i didnt say injure him im saying boogard should go after him....either fight him or lay a huge hit on him to send a message.

Anyone with a hockey sense will understand that we need to show the rest of the league and yes the maple leafs that you mess with our best guys were going to mess with yours.

Go back to your own board

good to know Eminger is sitting this one out. and i hope Biron can come up big. he's known to be pretty streaky. and when he's one on one, it's not a pretty sight. but enough being negative. bowl with heads tonight, Rangers. and use those with heads as the pins!

Just like every team's base of fans. It beggs the question if was "just plain stupid and immature" why the heck did it take you an hour to figure it out?

The team would lose with Lundqvist in net, so what's the difference?

that IS the difference, yes. unless he absolutely stands on his head and pulls amazing saves out of his ass. then it probably won't be a blowout.

this is gonna be a dirty game tonight, lets knock out Kessel and Armstrong and get the victory along the way, Avery or the Boogeyman needs to send out a message not to mess with us!

I don't care if we lose, as long as Kessel and Kennedy get smashed.

Perhaps not, but implying it with a complaint about Biron playing. This team is in trouble regardless, and you have to "right the ship" the correct way. We're about to play a lot of games. Biron's going to play some. Simple as that. There shouldn't be and is no longer an argument on the subject.
