Hey kid, no love for the blue-chipper? http://www.mtrmedia.com/hockey/2010/...-whos-not.html

Lots of love now- great update...here is the latest from ASR...

Kirill Petrov is probably the hottest prospect of the month. He’s just been traded from Ak Bars Kazan to Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk and he just started to show what he’s capable of if given some quality ice time. So far Petrov collected five points in as many games with his new team, and not later than yesterday had a great performance when Yugra defeated Evgeny Kuznetsov’s Traktor 3-1. At the sixteenth minute Kirill Petrov scored the game-winning goal, his first marker of the season, with a great wristshot from the right circle, and in the second period he added an assist: while on a counter-attack from the right side, Petrov first faked a shoot to trick out the dman, then sent the puck right to forward Igor Emeleev who scored the 3-1 goal. So far Petrov averaged more than thirteen minutes a game, way more than with Ak Bars Kazan.

Here's the big man's profile at Russian Prospects - thanks, Mr. Rosso!

de Haan with one assist in a win Saturday night...

Bport`s D and goaltending looks, well above average but there offense is absolutely pothetic and they can`t score.
There is not 1 player on Bport that deserves NHL ice time right now.

One may say what they will about how hard the Tigers had things in the goalscoring department last season, but Hisey and Hilbert do NOT make up for the loss of Mauldin, Bentivoglio and Smith.

Don't know if or when Sim will be down there, but if Martin-Ullstrom-Joensuu is the first line, I expect a lot of games with 2 goals scored or less.

Let's hope things start clicking at some point offensively.

Okay, I've been thinking of a way of keeping tab on the Isles-prospects throughout the year. I'll try to update relatively frequently (every monday for example?).

Since the groundwork has been done so well, I've decided to use Isles4ever11's list of our top 25 prospects as a blueprint. In my thinking, that should also make it easier to gauge the depth of our prospect list, as well as give you an idea about how the players are performing relative to (our own) expectations going into the season. Let me know if this makes sense.

I'll include links etc later (other updates are also welcome!). (A shout out to Tormentor on the Prospects-section also, as I've copied his formatting.)

Nice work. Just one thing: could you try and sort the players after position (from FW to D and then G last) and then after name? It would be easier to read it that way.

Here's Anders Nilsson's player page.

EDIT: I missed that you had ranked them after the top 25 prospect list.

was a pretty solid effort. they seem to have 2nd period problems where they come out flat. yesterday they played the whole 60 minutes.

2nd period was an issue last season too.

Great chart and work... THANKS!

I noticed Corey Trivino Finally played in a game and had an assist... He is a guy I really want to watch this year.. High 2nd round pick.. There were high hopes for him... This is a make or break year for him...

Great to see Petrov getting good minutes in a mens league and scoring... One year in the KHL with alot of minutes may be the best thing for him... When he comes over, he'll be as ready as he's ever going to be.

We have a deep prospect pool.....

Thanks Mikkel. Two things that jump out at me:

*ANDERS LEE: 6 points in his first 4 games of college hockey playing for a defensive-oriented team. Wow, that's pretty impressive. Just the fact that he's getting the playing time to amass those points is great, let alone the points. Not to get too excited, but this kid just keeps on tearing it up. Did we get a late round gem? I hope.

*KEVIN POULIN: ditto on jumping to a higher level and starting out really well. Very impressive.

He had a decent start, nothing spectacular, then suffered a high ankle sprain and is gone for 6 weeks or so.

Thanks Mikkel!

You know you're rebuilding when you look forward to the prospect stat updates more than the actual GDT's (although that could be changing this year ).

According to today's Botta:
http://www.islanderspointblank.com/
>>>
The Sound Tigers have signed former Islanders prospect Jeremy Colliton to a professional tryout agreement. Colliton played in Sweden last season.
<<<

I like that!

Wow, just wow. 2 Games and traded ? That's a terrible sign. I remember being so happy when we drafted him, he's turning into a nightmare. Maybe he went to Russia to hold out until Moncton trades him ?

I think for us fans, we simply shouldn't put any faith or hopes in him ever being an NHLer. IF it one day comes along, IF he's able to learn how to be a professional, then maybe, just maybe, he'll be one of those wildcards.

Until then, we should pretty much just forget about him ever being anything else other than an anomaly.

Kabanov the player:
I have seen VERY little indicating he is anything but VERY far from being an NHLer. He has to work on so much, from physical stature to speed to many points in his positional and two-way game, that there are literally hundreds of players closer to the NHL within the next three years than we should believe Kabanov to be.

He is and remains a long shot on so many fronts.

not a big deal though...3rd round gamble which is why no one picked him until us. We had the pick to use(waste). Its all about risks.

Lets wait and see on him. He has time. His father is the issue though. He also lied to us about ripping up his passport

Anders Nilsson with the shutout against Modo tonight. Although he only had to face 13 shots, and no real quality chances.

I was there for a school assignment (journalism student) so [I got to talk to him a little in the dressing room.

Anders Nilsson after the win:

"It was good to get the win. It gives us some confidence for the rival game (against Skelleftea) Saturday. It should be like a playoff game with full attendence."

About sharing the #1 goalie spot with David Rautio:

"It has been working well. Obviously, you want to play as many games as possible. But it gives you some time to clear your mind between games."

About the Islanders possibly bringing him over next year:

"I have no idea. I haven't talked to them. Obviously I gotta play well over here first, so we'll see"

And oh boy is he one HUGE kid.
