Not sure what they'd want from Atl maybe something around enstrom (doubt they'd trade him) or Little.

RJ is the "heart & soul" of the team, one of it's leading scorers at the moment, wears the A, and is very close to the team MVP.

Just don't see anything that is going tempt them to trade him.

Yeah, GM's always "ask" for players with significantly more value, it's good business practice to be laughed at.

Umberger has significant value to the Blue Jackets. Asking for him and offering your leftover junk isn't a good business practice either.

Give your head a shake. All I said was something around them I also said atlanta wouldn't trade him, hell I dont think there's a scenario where atlanta could trade for RJ as the pieces CBJ would want are too important to atlanta and then would just leave another hole to fill. Significant more value is an over statement the two players are a good 2-way top 6 forward and a good top 4 PMD much closer in value than you make it out to be, but still Enstrom>Umberger.

Yeah, both Columbus and Philly love Umberger and he's one of those guys you never want to get rid of. I can't see Atlanta getting him without something short of what they would consider overpayment.

What about Little, Kulda and a 2nd for Umberger?

Sorry but there just isn't a "fair" deal to be made with RJ. He does everything the team needs him to do and is considered the conscience of the team. Most CBJ fans will be asking for outrageous overpayment (especially in the minds of HFer's). I'm pretty sure Howson would be waiting for serious overpayment too.

I love him as a player..really underrated too,IMO.
It's just another situation where you have to overpay to get him.

I can see why Jackets fans would say he's basically off the table, and why they'd say it would take some serious overpayment to pry him away. But i've always sort of thought that he's one of the Jackets best assets to potentially move in a package to get the top-end d-man they lack.

Because he is one of only a few players on the team that doesn't constantly get injured and seems to show up every night. He doesn't take a few games off and coast along. Usually you notice when he's out there and he's usually doing something useful. You need someone on your team that has some heart, especially on a team like Columbus where no one seems to have any.

I totally agree. But it's tough to imagine a balance between value and a good fit for both teams (whoever the other team would be). That's where it gets complicated.

The piece that Atlanta would have to move would be a potential top pairing PMD. AKA Enstrom or Bogosian. Obviously Columbus would have to add, but that's really what Columbus would be targeting as we're only looking for a top-4 PMD or a top center.
