If Toff can overcome that really weird/awkward pivot to power step of his he could become a very solid NHLer. I could see him fitting in as a hard nosed soft handed 2nd liner who can work in front of the net on the PP.
Keep it up Toff!
I can see double T being a 1st line RW.. 2nd line at least, but only if he can improve on his skating. My expectations may be a little too high for him but I see him as a Dany Heatley
Forbort will be paired with Ottawa draft Pick Ben Blood tonight. Also keep your eye on the Sioux captain Chay Genoway. He was the 2009 WCHA defensive player of the year and is in his 5th season after being injured all of last year. One of the most dynamic players in the country and should be a player that is a finalist for the hobey baker award. He is undrafted as well, so free game at the end of the year.
St. Cloud leading Minnesota 5-0 through 2 periods.
Garrett Roe - 1G, 2A
Nic Dowd - 1G, 0A
Kevin Gravel - 0G, 0A
Caught the game on FSN at the bar last night, the goal Dowd scored was very pretty. He got the puck on a pass from the halfwall (may have been a pass from Roe)and cut to the middle stickhandling around both d-men and then sliding the puck under the Minnesota netminder as he was moving across.
The goal Roe scored was odd, he basically just threw the puck at the net as he was cutting to the middle and beat the goalie along the ice glove side.
Game ended up 5-2. Minnesota got some momentum back late as it seemed like St. Cloud couldn't stay out of the box. Also Minnesota should of had a couple goals early but Lee played an outstanding game, while Kangas was terrible last night...
Are you the guy that suggested Kyle Clifford would be the next Cam Neely???
Toffolli IMHO is a much taller Cammalleri.
lol I never compared Kyle Clifford to Cam Neely, not even old enough to have watched Cam Neely play. I keep saying Clifford-Schenn-Simmonds would be the nastiest third line in the league, not this year but perhaps next year
Toffoli had a good game. He was one of the few 67 forwards who was doing a whole heck of a lot. Was forcing a lot of turnovers in the offensive and neutral zones, and it was good to see him hustling. The skating looks a bit better, but he'll still need to work on becoming more explosive towards the net. Scored a nice goal by catching Scott Valentine coming out from behind the net, stripping him and firing a wrist shot past Michael Zador. On the downside, he did take a stupid penalty with about two minutes left, that lead to the eventual game tying goal. He was forechecking hard, forced the Generals defender out, but then used his stick to try and hold him up. He had no chance of getting the puck as the defender was past him, so it was just a sloppy play on his part.
UND has a pretty veteran D. Their #1D Chay Genoway turns 24 in December and there are other 24, 22, 21 year olds on the blueline. It's kinda weird to think, but the Sioux's D might be older than what Manchester is fielding in the AHL. So it shouldn't be too surprising if they aren't using Forbort on the PK as a freshman. I'm sure he'll get more responsibility as the year goes on.
