Yeah, I thought he played okay tonight. Backs basically stole the game for us in Edmonton. He'll be going most likely Monday and Thursday. Maybe Theodore gets the Saturday game, but not likely right now. I'm not sure, we'll see how Richards wants to play it.

The guys get a couple of days off from games, and they better come out with some fire and passion after this fireless and passionless performance.

Hey guys, I'm coming in peace. Just wanted to find out what you think of Edler — we're starting to think he's working to become a true #1 in this league this season. He's averaging 25 minutes a night, is even and has 5 assists in 8 games.

What did you think of him watching the game tonight? Thanks! (Sometimes it's hard to be completely objective of your own players.)

He had that slap pass to Malhotra on the 3rd goal. To me the thing that stands out the most is his defensive stickwork and vision.

I haven't had a chance to watch Edler much this year yet, but in the past couple seasons I've been higher than most on him. I wouldn't throw him in #1 territory, but even last year I'd put him solidly into top-3 range. If he's playing this year like you said, true #2 would be fair.

Thanks. As I said, we think he's working towards it, he has improved quite a bit this year. There's still stuff he can work on and I agree — he's most likely a #2 at this point.

Just curious, is Todd Richards on a hot seat or is he safe-ish?

So he basically got Hardinged.

It's warm.

Not safe... not at all. I'd say it's pretty hot right now.

Agreed it's warm but not hot. Wait until the end of the season and then we'll talk.

Heh. Went out last night and didn't see a minute of the game. From the sounds of it, glad I didn't. Yikes.

Wow, that was ugly. It's like all of our weak points were exposed in one game.

Koivu was slow.
Brunette was even slower, and couldn't get into the game.
Miettinen is worthless.
Cullen turned the puck over.
Havlat needs to shoot.
Lats is inconsistent.
Madden kills as many offensive zone possessions as Veilleux.
Clutterbuck can't pass or cycle the puck.
Nystrom has no finish.
Brodziak is lazy.
Staubitz can't do anything but hit and fight.
Kobasew is bad at carrying the puck and looks lost.

Burns runs around.
Schultz needs to be more physical and more poised with the breakout.
Zidlicky is small and weak.
Zanon has no skill.
Falk is inexperienced.
Stoner is fringe NHL #7 at best.

Theodore lets in easy goals (although he gets a complete pass because the Wild actually made things harder for him).

All and all, this is a game were you just have to get drunk and forget about it.

I FF'd through the 3rd period, but boy that was a terrible game.

I thought Theodore looked REALLY good through the first 2 periods.

I am not liking the Burns-Schultz pairing at all. I want to see Burns with Falk, who's looking really strong. And try Schultz with Zidlicky, Zanon seems to be making too many mistakes even strength.

I am officially not a fan of Madden at all. He just looks terrible out there. Slow, no hands, a step behind. Chicago fans seem to be right on that one.

Same with Miettinen, I am convinced he is a detriment to that first line. Every time he touches the puck he fires a terrible angle shot on goal and turns it over. Awful.

Overall, really bad play. Absolutely no ability to pass the puck. I'm still not happy with the officiating, but we couldn't get anything on the PP anyways.

+1

It sounded ugly just reading Russo's twitter.

Same refs from the Edmonton game. I'm not surprised at it.

obviously i'm in the minority but i don't really feel all that bad about that one. I think it was pretty clear from our last two periods (of the Eddy game) we had nothing in the tank. Blame the flu, the travel, and the back to back games but there was no way we were going to win that nucks game. I though we actually showed plenty of effort but just lacked the strength and stamina to do anything.

I'm happy going 1-1 on that short road trip.

They looked terrible but got points so all is good.

Considering how long it took us last year to win on the road, this is a victory. However, they need to work on their conditioning if they can't keep their legs under them. If not, then its time to make the changes
