Ruff's post-game presser -- Morrisonn hurt his groin at the end of the third and "it doesn't look good".

Looks like Weber or Butler will get the call then.

Ugh. I'd like to keep Monty and Leopold together, how about Sekera-Myers?

We'll probably see Butler-Myers, they looked decent during the preseason.

I haven't been that impressed with the Leopold-Montador pairing in the defensive zone - Montador has shown flashes of his turnover-laden meltdown from last season and while Leopold has shown good mobility and passing, he seems to lose the majority of the physical battles for puck possession in his own zone.

I'd rather see Sekera promoted to play with Myers in Morrisonn's absence, Weber slide in alongside Leopold and drop Montador down with Rivet.

It seems like the Sabres are missing Lydman and Tallinder...I know some of the Sabres fans ive talked to have said both guys are replacible but that pairing may have been one of the better "defensive" pairings in hockey

Lydman-Tallinder were not a pairing at all last season. Myers may be slow developing a comfort zone with a new partner, though, because Tallinder was Myers' partner in every single game in his NHL career (that counted) up until in Ottawa last Friday. (How bout that, Hank actually played 82 last year )

I don't want to make excuses for Myers, but does anyone think he's nursing an injury? We saw him limp off the ice in a game during the preseason and heard nothing about it after that.

Ruff added after practice that there was no update on Jason Pominville. He said the forward was resting and feeling better, but he was not at the Arena for practice and is not ready to practice on the ice yet.

Sabres defenseman Shaone Morrisonn, who suffered a groin injury Wednesday late in the the 1-0 overtime loss to New Jersey, skipped practice today and will miss Friday's home game against Montreal and Saturday's road game in Chicago.

"He’s just got a groin injury, and he’ll miss tomorrow," coach Lindy Ruff said today. "I would assume if he misses tomorrow, he won’t be ready for Saturday. It’s going to be a little bit of time."

Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn (groin) and right wing Jason Pominville (concussion) have yet to rejoin their teammates.

"Morrisonn is better. He was on the bike a little bit today, so he’s progressing," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Jason is doing better. He’ll see the doctor today and hopefully resume exercise in the next couple days. The earliest would be tomorrow. That would mean off-ice first. He hasn’t done anything yet. He’s been down [to the arena] a couple times."

In injury news, Ruff said that Jason Pominville will begin to get back into game shape by riding the exercise bike today. If he is able to keep himself free of headaches and post-concussion symptoms, he will be skating soon.

Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn tested his groin injury prior to Tuesday's practice in HSBC Arena, but he will miss his third straight game.

Pominville will miss his fourth straight game tonight when the Sabres visit the Atlanta Thrashers, but he made his first step toward a return with a light off-ice workout Tuesday.

"I feel good, much better than I did the first few days," he said. "I was able to work out [Tuesday] for the first time, rode the bike, got the heart rate up a bit, so it feels good right now, and hopefully it will feel good for the rest of the day, too.

"I'm sure if everything goes well [Tuesday], no headaches, no symptoms at all, I'll probably increase it [today]. There's a certain process that they have to make sure they take care of, and if I keep getting better and better and feel as good as I do now, I'm sure I'll be able to be back on the ice pretty soon."

ATLANTA -- Jason Pominville laced up his skates and took a spin around the Philips Arena ice today following the Sabres' morning skate, the first time the right winger has been on the ice since his Oct. 11 concussion. Coach Lindy Ruff said it's a sign of things to come.

"Tomorrow will be a bike ride and a lot longer skate, probably half an hour," Ruff said. "By Friday, I would think he would be able to get to maybe the same on the ice but ramp up the workload a little bit. Hopefully, by maybe as soon as Monday he’ll be full practice."

Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn joined Pominville on the ice but will miss tonight's game against the Thrashers with a groin injury.

"Morrisonn’s doing better," Ruff said. "Groin’s are funny things. The individual knows when he can push it and when he can’t and he’s doing as much as he can right now."

Jason Pominville's comeback road is continuing today as he is on the ice with the Sabres, albeit in a red non-contact jersey, for today's practice in HSBC Arena. It's certainly starting to look good for Pominville to go through practice in a full role next week and then zero in on a return to game action. Perhaps it could be the Atlanta-Dallas road trip on Oct. 29-30.

Shaone Morrisonn (groin) skated on his own for about 25 minutes prior to practice. He is not on the ice with the team. All other players are taking part in the workout.

Montador broke his nose? I didn't know Taylor Pyatt played for the Atlanta Thrashers.

I was kind of excited for a minute when i noticed CBS sports had Rivet down as having a face injury for tonight's game.

Per Harrington's twitter, Rivet is DTD with re-aggravation of his shoulder.

You could tell in his play early on that something seemed "off"... Must not hve rehabbed it properly..

That wasn't it, it was the hit against the Senators late in the game that did the trick.

Oh really, I missed most of the sens game so no wonder why I missed it. How bad was the hit?

It probably wouldn't have been an issue except it was the same shoulder that went into the boards...he returned later in the game so I think if it was a playoff game he would have played through it (then again, he did play through the original injury for the better part of 1.5 years), so this might be more precautionary than anything.

^^^When I saw the hit during the game, and he went to the locker room, I feared he separated it. I was surprised he returned. No ill wishes towards Rivet, but I'm glad Weber is getting to play.

Also, vindicates DR's / LR's plan to carry 8 d-men this year.

Jason Pominville was awaiting results from a neurological-psychological examination today before taking the next step toward recovering from a concussion. Craig Rivet had a full workout with the Sabres after aggravating a shoulder injury and Shaone Morrisonn joined him along the blue line while coming back from a groin injury.

The Sabres could have all three veterans back during a three-game road trip that starts tomorrow night in Philadelphia. None of the three is expected to be in the lineup against the Flyers but they could return when the Sabres play Atlanta and Dallas later in the week. Pominville was hoping to be cleared for contact while the other two are waiting to regain full strength.
