Actually, most Devils fans have many doubts about this.

I am surprised by how many of you guys expect our boys to come out firing. I just don't see it...and neither do most of us fans. This team is just flat and Mac made a pretty stupid move by benching Kovy coming off of a 3-0 win and when he leads the team in points. This team is just a mess right now. You guys definitely have the edge.

The Rangers team--much more than their fans--have a habit of taking games like these for granted. Both teams have had problems already this year and both have key players out. If the Rangers play like they have the last two games the Devils will be in for a long night. The operative word is 'if'.

Kovalchuk will be coming off what was probably his first game ever, in any league, as a healthy scratch. I think he will score tonight.

And nothing gets a team going like a rivalry game.

The Rangers have actually played the Devils pretty well over the last couple seasons and always seem to be up for the challenge. When they play the Islanders... well that's another story unfortunately. I think we need to just pepper Marty and crash the net looking for rebounds. We definitely can win this game.

He was scratched a couple of times in Atlanta, apparently

Can we finally win at home?

This whole losing at home all the time thing is getting real old (dating mostly back to last season- granted we've only played 2 games thus far at home).

Can't wait for this game. Rangers vs. Devils have consistently been the best games of our seasons for the last few years IMO.

The Rangers have to play this game like the past two road games, hard, on the puck and defense first.

The Rangers have to continue to win the neutral zone battles and guys like Sauer, Stall, Girardi and Rozy have to continue their good pinching, shot blocking and moving up in the play. They need to force the issue and dont let the Devils get anything going.

You know the Devils are embarrassed and this is the perfect matchup for them, on the road to regain confidence. Especially with Marty between the pipes and a benched Kovy coming back. Don't GIVE them an excuse to take the crowd out of it. Dont BEAT yourself by taking dumb penalties or giving them odd-man rushes (which have been way down the past two wins).

Play a good road game at HOME. The Rangers need to forget about pleasing the crowd or feeling the pressure from the stands, just do it like they do it on the road.

This year and last the Rangers are a combined 23-17-5 on the road - thats a conference leading road record. They are 18-18-7 in that same time frame at home... a conference dwelling home record. They need to bottle up their road game and play it home. Maybe since they have been wearing blue a lot on the road during these wins theyll subconsciously play the same?

I hope.

I worry about the energy level required for the high-octane forecheck and back check on the second day of a back-to-back. Especially considering that there is also travel involved.

Otherwise the Devils team looks totally out of whack right now. Nothing is clicking. John MacLean is showing his inexperience as a coach right now.

However - Kovalchuck should be filled with righteous anger if he's back in the lineup and if he isn't pouting and trying to get his coach fired. He basically has that team by the scrot. If he doesn't like the coach, how long will that coach last?

The only reason I can see if that John MacLean seems to be doing everything he possibly can to get fired.

There is no reason to take the devils lightly. I dont care what they have been doing, they are still the devils and we are the rangers. This is a huge rivalry and like someone else stated that could be what sparks the devils.

As for this team, I really like it. Theres a good feel to it imo. They are workhorses. They battle. Everyone is working hard out there giving everything they got. I love it. And its because these type of players fit torts system. I said it right before the season started and i'll say it again, this is more of a "torts" team. I love the energy guys we have like prust, callahan, dubi, avery, and fedotenko. Then you got a big guy like Boyle who clearly has improved and did get stronger. AA is another big guy who just continues to play well. And you cant forget frolov and stepan. Frolov seems to be playing better each game. Stepan has been just solid. He seems to always be in the right spot, he's a smart hockey player, and he just flat out makes things happen. Stepan has been used in all situations.

The defense has also started to come along, coincidentally right when eminger was scratched.

And you have to credit Biron. He stepped up big time against toronto. Its great to have a reliable backup.

anyways,

LGR

The only positive of Gaborik being out of the lineup... no one gets to look down the bench and say, Gabby will do it, they all have to do it.
