Devils will be pissy and Kovy will want to shut people up, but Avery is the great equalizer against him so I say we have an edge here. Not sure if our offense will break out thinking something along the lines of 3-2 hoping for Anisimov and Stepan with goals.

Avery can definitely be able to push some buttons tonight. Marty, Kovalchuk and Clarkson are obvious targets...

I was thinking that, but if it is, I think Mac handled it wrong in the sense that it appears Kovy did something wrong.

If the team needed a fire under its *****, I think Mac would have been better served saying "Kovy gets the night off, the rest of the guys have got to pick it up"

Just my opinion though, it could have been anything.

Agreed. I think Avery will piss Kovy off too much by mentioning his scratch and Kovy will hopefully go nuts.

If they were benchng him to get everyone else going, I doubt MacLean would have been so misleading in his presser. Kovalchuk was embarrassed last night, maybe MacLean is trying to mask his reasons but he wouldn't have let Kovalchuk take the blame if it was another angle.

This is a really dangerous game for the Rangers tonite. The Devil's can really go either way at this point. They either suck it up and play their butts off tonite and turn in a great game or they continue and play like crap and keep trying to get Johnny Mac fired. Not sure its all his fault - that d is as crappy of a blue line as I've seen the debbies put together in many, many years. Talinder has been a mess -- the debbies version of Kotalik. The rest haven't been much better. Offensively they are looking to Kovalsuck. He couldn't carry the team in Atlanta and I don't think he can carry the team in NJ. He's a great player but he's not a winner!

On the other hand the Rangers are banged up after two very physical games in Toronto and Boston. Not sure what they will have left in the tank. If I'm the Rangers I get ready for a very intense first 10 minutes of the game. I have Avery hounding Kovalsuck as well as have guys crash the net early to rattle Blowder. That's were a guy like Prust can be very helpful. If they can come out of that first segment either tied, or even better, with the lead the debbies are going to come apart.

If I'm the debbies I come out the first shift and try and get Avery off his game. The longer Avery has to work on Kovalsuck the better it will be for the Rangers. If I'm Mac I would try and get Kelly Clarkson to get Avery into a fight early in the game. Just get him off the ice!!! Then I just keep dumping the puck and hitting the Rangers. Get a lead and keep the puck in the offensive zone. Again that d really sucks and I predict the Rangers score 4 against Blowder.

Prediction: Rangers 4 (Ftank, Stepan, Gilroy and Dubi) - lil Debbies 2

Important game this early in the season because it's at home and against a struggling division rival and can extend a modest winning streak if the Rangers win.

Callahan and Avery are due.

Really looking forward to the game, except Sam Rosen isn't announcing it so we got annoying voice Giannone rhyming.

I forgot this was only the 3rd game of the season. What about the 3 disasters before that? How quickly we seem to forget. I have seen some awesome things from the Rangers this season, but 2 above good games doesn't make them any less "Ranger" then normal. We were still on the edge of our seats in the last minutes of both our regulation wins.

And so will Jeremy Williams for Todd White
Someone explain why we waived Kennedy over White, please?

Kovalchuk is playing too.

Our style these past two games are perfectly suited to go up against the Devils. Their D is inexperienced, lack good offense, and our style of attacking the D men and causing them to make bad outlet passes so that our defense can step up (protected by a forward coming back to protect the D-man's spot) should cause problems. It's alot of skating, but that's why we have a well-conditioned team. Arnott Elias Langenbrunner, Zubrus, aren't the fastest forwards anymore, and with the way our D has been playing physical hopefully we can do the same thing we've done the past few games, clog up the nuetral zone, but even better. Except for two games last year, i don't think we've had much trouble with Kovalchuk the last few years (thx Avery, Lundy) And i expect Callahan Dubi Arty Frolov Boyle to really wreck havoc down low in the Devils zone. The forwards for the Devils may come out blazing and ready to prove themselves after a lackluster start, but i think their D will be exploited all year, making MArty look bad (plus how bad he makes himself look anyway)

Parise - Zajac is the only thing that scares me, and Kovalchuk will take some work from Avery and Staal/Girardi to shut down this game if he plays. Other than that.. our defense has looked mobile, offensive, and physical.. and our forwards are getting the job done.. If we're consistent, we'll win..

The Devils d sucks.

If Gaborik was to play, I'd bet on a hat trick for him tonight.

Hopefully the way they're playing continues and shows up more on the scoreboard.
