Puts things in perspective. One of, probably THE, biggest goal since 1997 came in game 3 of a 2nd round matchup.

Sucks that Nylander had to leave, Prucha had to suck and our offense had to go to hell for the next 3 seasons.
Yeah.On NHLN they're talking about Nylander's neck injury. They started to touch on his career and how in his prime he wasn't afraid to go retrieve the puck from the corners and did it with full speed and skill. During the time he should've been kept over Gomez. I was against that Gomez signing.

Nah, gotta disagree. I rather have Gomez over Drury.

Problem with Gomez is that his contract runs longer...

Still, wouldnt it be a great boost if Drury came back with a rejuvenated offensive game?

A 2 way center, good on faceoffs, who scores at a 25 goal pace would be invaluable to us right now, regardless of salary.

Then I wouldn't mind the 7 million dollar cap hit. Can't beat a combination of good offense and superb defense.

I want Drury to re-sign with the Rangers. No doubt about it... Like Vitto said, for $3 mill.

I don't know. Maybe it's just me but I never liked Gomer's game. I thought his game was way too basic w/ his speed and just a little above average passing. I also never liked the give aways he did at the blue line.

I always thought Drury brought more to the table. I would have Signed Drury and kept Nylander. I would not have gone after Gomez. Him and Jagr didn't even work out.

From 05 to 07, our biggest problem was our transition game.

And instead of getting a puck moving defenseman, we got Gomez, a puck carrying forward.

Now that we have MDZ, our need for Gomez goes down.

Back to Rozsival. He re-signed the year that Jagr left. The thing is for $5 mil he has to produce some offensive numbers. He's an important player for the minutes he gets--no argument--but he's good but not rock solid in his own end. He's prone like a lot of other d-men to making ******* plays. He's not that physical. He has to put up some numbers.

IMO the last two years he's been overpaid. This year he's off to a good start or at least--he was off to a ho-hum type of start like the rest of the defense with the exception of Girardi--in the last few games he's looked terrific. The offense is there again. One reason--he's shooting the puck and not ****ing around with it. If he keeps that up--this year he might earn his cap space which is all you can ask.

derailing the thread again, sorry but...

we really could have used gomez last year...im glad his contract was gone, but no one on that team could carry the puck through the neutral zone and allow us to maintain possession as we entered the zone

that became a giant weakness in our game last year once our forecheck went to hell and became ineffetive

generally speaking, we would dump the puck along the boards and then need our opponents defense to F*up for us to have possession in the offensive zone...gomez would have helped that tremendouslly

but im sure once we had control in the zone he would have just lobbed the puck into the goalies chest anyway haha

I was really excited about the Gomez and Drury signings, unfortunately they ended up being terrible contracts. Sorry for derailing the thread.

OK, a little OT, but related I think:

Post article today about "fan" spitting on Cliff Lee's wife.

Sorry, but this attitude of "this is NY, deal with it" is complete BS.

What's next? Shall we throw up on someone we don't like? We know where THAT was done.

Point is: There is a difference between being tough on players, opponents, and fans of opponents (as fans ourselves) and just being a total Jackass!

I really thought '08 was our year because of that. It's not like they were washed up scrubs. These guys were still ripe.

It seemed like a lot of us thought that as well since we started chanting "We want the Cup" at the season opener.

What? Aren't we supposed to be enticing Cliff Lee's wife into loving NY?

...or is it an Ace Ventura thing?

HOW STUPID ARE NEW YORK FANS SOMETIMES? (Very, see 2008 Game 3 NYR vs Pittsburgh. Thank god I went to game 4, saved me from hating fellow Rangers fans)

LOL.
Too bad he only has 7 shots. If you look at our top players in terms of ice time and points, he has the lowest amount. For someone who is playing point on the PP, he really needs to shoot a lot more. 2 Goals on 7 shots is great. Shoot the puck rozy.

He has shot it quite a few times more, he's just been having issues getting it through and getting it on net.

Yes, and he was probably our best player in that 07-08 season too.

When's Rozsy going to come back....Gilroy has me nervous at times out there, and Del Zotto doesn't deserve the minutes he's getting right now.

Yes yes, I know Gilroy has 3 points in the last 5 and is a +5 but it doesn't change the fact that he's playing very soft hockey and continues to have trouble containing forwards.

Mods please dont delete. Just wanted to say Thank You to Michal Rozsival for his long service as a NY ranger. Close to 6 seasons, 40+ goals, a career plus.

Good lock in Pheonix with Don.
