Agreed - but I think it's time the league started commenting on these incidents. I wouldn't mind hearing that the official was suspended for a few games.

It's time the league was responsible for the horrible officiating lately. With 4 officials on ice there's no excuse anymore. It's time for more video review - that much is clear and beyond argument.

That's such BS they are spouting. If the refs had waved off orr's 'goal', then Florida wouldn't have had to press for the equalizer so hard. I doubt kessel gets that breakaway if the score is still tied.

That official decided the game - there is no other way to interpret this. Did he do it on purpose? Who knows - unlikely. Is he incompetent? Absolutely - and needs a suspension.

This.

As soon as Walkom or whoever that ref was said it was good, there was nothing else to be said, nothing else left to do. Can't review a penalty non-call so can't review the goal.

The game needs challenges to keep the reffing honest. Right now they're gods who can do whatever they want on the ice and not get called out for it. At this point in time, it's simply ridiculous how refs can completely screw a team over with a bad call and barely face any consequences.

And they would have had a powerplay instead of the goal against as well possibly taking the lead.

Orr's excuse was ridiculous "I wasnt trying to take him out, but trying to get to the front of the net. " He plowed right through the crease .

Edit: maybe I missed something but when higgins slashed armstrong I cant seem to see where it actually hits him. I see it hit his stick on the tsn highlights.

Of course they would have - that didn't even occur to me until just now - DAMN!

The league had better come out and say something about this. The game was not decided by the two teams on the ice - and that is totally wrong.

That Orr goal was despicable. This is what I hate about this league...awful reffing and nothing is said or done to acknowledge it. At least in the NFL they actually apologize for wrong calls. Even in baseball the umps admit when they make a bad call. Not the NHL...pompous ******.

I believe the video goal judge should be give a little more power. When something like yesterday happens, he should be able to overthrow the ref's decision to allow the goal. Not only that, but he should be able to give out a penalty to Orr.

Same thing happened to Washington vs Philly during the POs in 07-08 when they completely bodychecked Huet out of his position which gave an empty net goal. Philly players even had a modest goal reaction at first because they were sure it was going to be disallowed. WSH ended up losing that series.

NHL is so frustrating when it comes to rules, refereeing and discipline. They really are the worst.

dont know about the veracity of this but i saw this earlier on twitter:

@kuklaskorner RT @OnFrozenPond: Colin Campbell: Not only should Orr's goal not count, he should have gone to penalty box #Leafs #Panthers

i guess thats one of the panthers beat writers and the statement from campbell came during a convo with Dave Tallon the GM.. there's a few more quotes from it below

Too bad the Ref won't suffer any consequences and the Leafs put 2pts in the bank.

Haha says the ref didnt have a good view. How could it get any better unless he gets bowled over too.

That's a pretty lame excuse if the NHL said that.. The ref was standing right there looking right at the play as it developed..

Why don't the ref just man up and say he simply missed the call like the ump did in the Detroit Tigers game costing the pitcher the no hitter or perfect game whichever it was...

Watching the Preds/Blues game as well as the Leafs/Bruins on CI. 0-0 at the 1st intermission. The Blues had an excellent power play at the end of the period. Total domination in the ozone.
