Pommer failed his test today

Quote:
Forward Jason Pominville did not pass his neuro-psych test and will take it again on Wednesday. Pominville must be medically cleared as he recovers from a concussion before playing again.

Pominville waiting on word from doctors
Oct 28, 2010 1:00:59 PM

ATLANTA -- Jason Pominville feels healthy and ready to go. Coach Lindy Ruff is ready to use the right winger. Now all they need is the official OK.

Pominville took a neuro-psych test Wednesday to judge his recovery from an Oct. 11 concussion, and the results are not in. The Sabres had expected to hear from the doctors prior to today's 11 a.m. practice, but two hours later there was still nothing in Philips Arena.

If Pominville passes the memory test (he failed part of the first one), he will be in the lineup Friday when the Sabres visit the Atlanta Thrashers.

Shucks, I saw the quiz they gave him, and I'd fail that part of the memory test, too: "Name the last time the Sabres outplayed their oponent for all 3 periods, and did so for 3 consecutive games in 1 week." Bonus: "Name the last time the Sabres scored 3 PP goals in 1 game."

In all seriousness, I hope this is neither a lingering nor future problem for him.

On HNIC last week they showed the concussion test and it is actually pretty hard for most people.
Not sure if there is a time limit or something, but it's a "connect the dots"-esque test where you connect A to 1, 1 to B, B to 2, etc. to test if you can process multiple things at once.
It seemed pretty testing even for the guy who was doing it (Elliotte Friedman, not a knock against him but it seems like you'd definitely have to think a lot).

I really hope they don't push Pominville back..

Poms cleared to play

Per ESPN

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Sabres forward Jason Pominville has been cleared to play after missing nine games with a concussion.

Coach Lindy Ruff says Pominville will be back in the lineup on Wednesday, when the Sabres (3-7-2) host Northeast Division rival Boston. Though he began skating with the team last week, Pominville was finally cleared after passing a concussion-related visual test before practice Monday.

The top-line forward has been out since a 4-3 loss to Chicago on Oct. 11, when he was hit partially from behind and sent headfirst into the boards by Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson.

Goalie Ryan Miller missed practice with what Ruff would only describe as a "lower body injury." Ruff expected Miller to practice Tuesday.

Hmm. Anyone else read this and wonder if the next thing to go wrong this season will be Miller suffering some nagging injury or worse?

Get the white flags out if that happens.....

Ryan Miller did not practice this afternoon with the Sabres while recoving from a lower-body injury that was not believed to be serious. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said Miller received treatment Saturday and Sunday and kept the goaltender off the ice after he reported soreness.

Ruff did not reveal details of the injury. Goaltending coach Jim Corsi played in one net at the Northtowns Center while Patrick Lalime played the other for the 80-minute practice. Miller is expected to be back on the ice when the Sabres get back to work Tuesday in preparation for Boston

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller returned to practice this morning in the Northtowns Center after taking Monday off to rest what was termed as a "lower-body" injury. Coach Lindy Ruff expected his No. 1 goalie to be ready for Wednesday night's game against Boston in HSBC Arena.

Ruff was vague about the injury, saying only that Miller was feeling tightness that required treatment Saturday in Dallas and again Sunday back in Buffalo.
http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...k-to-work.html

When I read "lower-body", "tightness" and "treatment" in any description of a goalie's condition, I think "groin injury"....

Hopefully, it's not something that gets worse before it gets better.

Coach Lindy Ruff said Tuesday that Miller does not have a groin injury. Ruff won't rule on Miller's status until Wednesday morning, before the game with the Bruins.

Miller returned to practice on a limited basis after missing Monday's workout. He was often stretching his legs during breaks.
I wonder if it's a hip flexor.....

Explains why he hasn't looked good, I wouldn't doubt it if Ruff tried to play him through this injury considering he has little to no faith in LOLime...

Head coach Lindy Ruff said he would miss "some good time" due to injury.
