Spaling isn't going anywhere. Notice the vast improvement on the penalty kill since he's been up? Coincidence? I think not. Smithson, as much as I can't stand him, makes a good pairing on the PK with Spaling. Legwand and Ward make another good pairing while Sully and either O'Reilly or Goc make another good pairing. Trotz stated last week he's using more guys on the PK to be accountable and it's working.
It will be a dilemma when Goc and Lombardi are available again as to who sits or gets sent down but this is a good problem to have, depth.
I think the Blues will come out hard after us. If we can keep them off the score sheet early then we can hold them off.
I agree about Tootoo. He's having a great year. Honestly, if Lombardi and Goc were to come back right now, I'd have to bench SK. Too many other guys playing good hockey right now.
I was thinking SK to. But lets say were all healthy when Goc and Lombardi come back... I dont see them sitting SK due to the fact hes healing and starting to play good hockey. Hes also on a 1 way and he needs to get his playing time to prove himself. But on the other hand you know they wont ever scratch Smithson because of the PK and how much the staff loves him. So Idk whats gonna happen.
Well, I love the "when we are healthy" projections. But honestly, I'm not sure we'll have to solve the puzzle of who sits, and who is sent to Milwaukee. I think there will always be an injury here and there. It's a very long season and a very physical sport. Seems like we are always missing key players at some point each season, especially when playoffs roll around. This season, however, we have good depth.
