Every fan thinks salary dumps are going to get traded to their team for nothing...hasn't the Chicago experience from last year basically debunked that notion?

What do you think Schneider is worth? A 2nd is nothing to sneeze at and with the way the Devils have played it might turn into a late 1st.

But if Luongo goes down, we don't have a backup. I don't think Lack can cover him. We're keeping Schneider until the goalie market goes up again.

More importantly, we really don't have room for Langenbrunner... especially together with Hedberg who has a higher cap hit than Schneider.

Schneider's worth more to the Canucks as a roster player than he'd get in trade. They need someone to credibly push Luongo and make him show he deserves the #1 job. Schneider's been up and coming for a few years now and it looks as though he might finally be ready for prime time which means his value is increasing. To the Canucks: Schneider > 2nd round pick.

And if/when Bieksa finally departs, I'd like to see another dman come back this way. We can't have too many of the damn things; for some reason they all break when they get here.

This is the situation, then add in that the Canucks have to shed some salary and you don't get squat in terms of offers.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Cory Schneider involved in a deal, but you HAVE to take Bieksa with him and return a good defenseman.
...despite all the offers we've received here.

Before you reply that hfboards users aren't GMs, be sure that logic is applied universally. The bottom line is no one knows what's going to come back for Bieksa, but in the context of hfboards, the competing offers are looking fine.

He's worth more the Canucks than a 2nd.

Carcillo is an everyday player with real grit. As much as I love Rypien and he is tough as nails, Carcillo has more offensive upside and plays every game. Rypien is not likely to play more than 25 games in any season. And if you think were giving up too much, we need to get bieksa off our books and he is currently still a liability. Did you watch the colorado game tonight? rewind the pvr and isolate bieksa..out of position 3-5 times causing scoring chances other way and good for 1-2 stupid penalties...Just my opinion obviously...
also the cap space we save for now and later at the trade deadline is even more valuable

Would Nashville fans still do Bieksa to Washington, Fleishchmann to Nash and Ward, Smithson pick to Van?

I know a lot of Capitals fans and they need help on the back end, especially moving the puck up.

Personally, I'd like to get Steckel back from them... cap hit is a bit high but he'd do wonders for our fourth line.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Raymond - Kesler - Samuelsson
Torres - Malholtra - Hansen
Tamby - Steckel - Schaefer

People normally ignore information which clashes with their preconceived notions.

That isn't totally true. Ehrhoff was traded for nothing.

Not all trades are the same.... You cant just look at the end result.
Gags would only waive his NTC to go to Tampa, Tampa knew that and the Flyers had to move him (pretty much bent over). Thats why the Gagne trade returned so little.

Step out of the vacuum, people.

Sometimes I think that people don't understand what ASAP stands for: As Soon As Possible

Do you think Canucks want to have their Top 4 be Edler, Ehrhoff, Rome, Parent? (Alberts might be injured and Hamhuis might or might not be back for next game.)
