I think he flew over the rainbow on a unicorn laughing all the way....

I haven't heard a thing. I'm sure we will in the next day or two.
Having said that when he comes back he better play his ass off.

There was a blurb from an article posted the other day that said the surgery on Leighton was successful and he's beginning (or about to begin) working out some. I don't have the link but I'm sure someone with a better memory than me will remember which article and follow through with it soon enough.

if parent is any indication, this is going to end in a frustrating way.

Tim P. had a one-liner yesterday:

Quote:
Michael Leighton’s (herniated disk) rehab has gone so well, he began working out on the slide board on Wednesday.

He's a worthless sack of ****.

So, in other words, pretty much back to normal.

I can't get back beyond thinking that, even if he were dunked daily at Lourdes, he's not even going to rise back up to his level of just-better-than-average.

ah i know how that goes when one side of your body is not working the same as the other you try to compensate with the stronger side..

in the end it screws up both sides..

did the same thing to my knees a few seasons back training for a long MTB race. early on my left knee gave out so i kept riding using more power from my right knee to compensate.. in the end i overworked both knees and paid teh price for weeks after..

never did that again let me tell ya.

it's pretty much the dumbest thing the human body does. my hip flexors compensated for each other years ago, they're still funky.

October 30, 2010 article:

http://www.csnphilly.com/10/30/10/Fl...347&feedID=695

Quote:
Michael Leighton, rehabbing from back surgery, was back on the ice Saturday morning at Skate Zone doing some light skating.

The Flyer goalie underwent surgery Oct.11 to repair a herniated disk in his lumbar region.

Meeting with reporters before Saturday’s game against the Islanders, Leighton said his problems began with numbness in his left foot.

“You get numbness in your foot and your foot gets weak,” he said. “That is why I left the game in Toronto [in pre-season]. There was pain and weakness in my foot ... The surgery was to take pressure off the nerve [back] and now it needs to regenerate itself and it takes time to do that.”

Leighton said he did “some little twirling” on the ice and not much more.

“The back feels good,” he said. “The main problem was the weakness in my foot and with time that will go away. That’s still there but the back felt great. I did some movements but not much.”

The target date for his return to full practice remains around Nov. 20.

“I’m aiming as soon as I can get back on the ice to get back playing,” he said.
