For what it's worth, Renato Tosio and Lars Weibel have ranked every starting goalie in the league and had Conz in third place:

1. Rüeger
2. Genoni
3. Conz
4. Markkanen
5. Bührer
6. Stephan
7. Huet
8. Manzato
9. Flüeler
10. Bäumle
11. Berra
12. Aebischer

Any comment? Seems spot on to me.

I can agree with this list for the actual season so far.

If I had to sign one of these goalies though, Stephan would easily be in the top 3.
Also Aebby wasn't very lucky, but top 10 for sure.

Conz will be the starter for our WJC and if he stands on his head again, I see no reason not to draft him. The most used factor is his size, but I really don't get this, there are many smaller goaltenders, even in the NHL...

Obviously this list is based on the current season. I agree with you about Stephan, though it's really hard to knock down anyone from the top four.

About Aebischer, no way he's not dead last by a fair margin.

no goalie would look good on this Lugano-team, even Brodeur would rank as #12 with this job.

Lugano's defense is ok. With some capable goaltending they wouldn't be far from Fribourg and Langnau (see games against Kloten, Davos or Zug for example of close games lost due to poor goaltending).

Beside, it's not like Aebischer has been good before this season. He was kicked out of Colorado, Montreal and Phoenix, has never done anything for the national team apart from that game against the Czech Republic in Turin, and sucked during his first stint in Lugano back in 2005.

But Bäumle and Flüeler did a lot for the Swiss national team, let alone their huge NHL history
Aebischer is not a good NLA goalie, he's not even average in this league by now, but to say his career wasn't successfull is a big mistake.

During his career, he made 214 games with 2.52 GAA and .912 SV%. His first 3 seasons were very good, he earned the starting job in Colorado after 2 years. His best season was 03/04 when he won 32 games with 2.09 GAA and a SV% of .924. The best season a swiss hockey goalie ever had.
There is no chance Bäumle, Berra will ever be nearly as good as he was by then.
After that, the lockout was the end of his fantastic career start, he became worse and slowed down every year.
The fact that you're trying to defend a horrible Lugano-defense shows, that you're maybe not that objective about this topic...

That ranking is based on current form, the fact that Aebischer was an ok NHL goalie (though massively overrated in Switzerland) seven years ago is irrelevant here. And Gerber definitely had a better season in 2005/06.

Bäumle (now this is a goalie with a horrible defense) and Flüeler are both better than him this season. I can't remember poor goaltending costing Ambrì or ZSC any game this season.

And finally, how is Lugano's defense horrible? The season didn't start and end with that 9-1 game last Saturday. If their offense and goaltending were half as good as their defense, we wouldn't be talking about a bottom team.

Aebischer 2003-04: 2.09 GAA .924 SV%
Gerber 2005-06: 2.78 GAA .906 SV%

Back to Conz. He got another win today against Ambri-Piotta 5-2! Conz now has 11 wins and 9 losses with SCL Tigers! Conz has a goals against average of 2.5, can't find his save percentage anywhere and he leads the league in shutouts with 5 in 20 games! Not bad for a goalie who is on a team that finished in 11th place last year!
GO CONZ!

It's not a good subject but imo, Berra is the weaker. Huet must be higher.

Bump, umm so this sounds kinda stupid but I drafted this guy in NHL 11 Be a Gm and he happened to be an 80 overall rookie and went up to 88 overall with still full A potential.
Does anyone think he could be an elite NHL goaltender? Because after that, I sure do haha.

Devils will grab him in the 6th round as replacement of Brodeur once he retires after next season.
