I dont really care if Eminger plays instead of Gilroy. They are basically the same type of player imo. But sitting Sauer and playing both of them makes no sense.
Eminger and Gilroy do look alike out there. They even skate similar to one another. I agree, one or the other, but not both

It isnt the end of the world, its only the 3rd pairing. But it still irks me to no end.

Ok.. so does anyone know if the limited weekend service for the LIRR includes tonight? I can't seem to get the LIRR website to open.

When Gilroy was signed I was skeptical.

When Gilroy made the team last year I said they should have signed another NHL ready defenseman, they wound up doing that later in the year.

Gilroy then impressed the hell out of me in preseason and early into the year. But I knew he would fizzle coming from college.

I defended Gilroy coming into this season because I thought he would have better camp and be more prepared for a full NHL season.

He's been OK defensively but hes contributed pretty much zilch offensively. If he's not doing that then why keep him on? He's a waste of a roster spot if hes not adding offense because being a defensive defenseman is not his forte. He doesnt have the size.

Its become glaringly apparent he doesnt have an NHL shot from the point.

He's going to get his shot this year and it may be his last. And when i mean year, I mean calendar year, 2010.

I am pretty much meh about his game now and I doubt anyone else would trade for him tbh. Maybe try him on offense first before giving up on him, but in Hartford.

In defense of Eminger, he hasn't played badly the last few games. Gilroy needed that shot off the crossbar to go in the other night. He needs a confidence boost in the worst way.

The entire Atlantic division is struggling, to some extent.

But I love the 2-7-1 NJ Devils

Really?

Goal 1 - Staal misses an ill-advised poke check, gets caught flat footed, Rozsival reacts way too late

Goal 2- He's on the ice but it's in no way a direct result of anything in specific that he did. He kept his man to the outside, went to the front of the net with the guy he was covering. He saw Kane step into the open ice and tried to go down in front of Biron to block the shot. In a perfect world, yeah maybe he reads that play better or something, but what about Anisimov or Callahan who let Kane walk right through them?

I'd also really like to see that goal again from a different angle because one replay the only showed once made it look like the Thrashers had six men on the ice and Kane jumped on early to be able to take that pass.

Goal 3 - Not on the ice. Staal is the victim of a bouncing puck and Biron plays the shot poorly

Goal 4 - Where's the lack of effort? He goes to the front of the net, knocks the loose puck out of harms way and it gets swatted out to a player he's not even supposed to be covering. Stepan didn't cover Boulton like he was supposed to

Goal 5 - Wasn't on the ice

Goal 6 - The only one I'd truly pin on him and it barely mattered since time was running out. But I'll also say this, he didn't have any clear pass to a teammate there and had someone pressuring him. If he tries to pass it to his defense partner, there's a pretty decent chance the guy to his left intercepts it as well. He was careless with the puck but this is the only goal I'd pin on him.

It's not to say that he couldn't play better or make better defensive decisions, but saying he single-handedly cost the Rangers the games because 3 goals were 100% his fault is just plain dumb because it's completely obvious that 2 of the 3 were nothing that someone with a reasonable grasp of the game of hockey could pin on just him.

If we want to complain about players making mistakes we could just blame the whole team on those goals.

It's one thing to disagree with me, but its another thing to say I don't have a reasonable hockey sense. I was at the game and watched him very closely, and he was flat out awful. From what I saw, he could have prevented 3 of those goals. Feel free to disagree, but don't post a novel on why "its completely obvious that I don't have a reasonable grasp on the game of hockey".

With that being said, lets both agree he needs to have a better game tonight.

The fact that Eminger gets to play over Sauer pisses me off every time it happens. Unbelievable that Tortorella allows Eminger go out there and make mistake after mistake, while Sauer has been nothing but solid sits and watches.

Torts continues to ignore the fact that Sauer has been the best player out of Sauer, Gilroy and Eminger.

I am hating this guy more with every passing game, i mean what does Sauer need to do?

**** Torts

So King Henrik is for sure starting tonight? I guess that means he'll take the night off tomorrow, right?

Meh, I hope not. Biron got the start on Wednesday...

I'd like to see Hank play another back to back. He did it last weekend and looked great.
