Let's give it some time. He's looking great, but he has some work to do.

Bob is way to fundamentally stable to be a "Hasak". But i agree from the games i have seen him play he has been scary good for a rookie. I see no reason he shouldnt be your #1 atm.

Ok, first off I LOVE Bobrovsky and hope he stays with the organization for a while (longer then most goalies) but he SCARES me to death ... Have you see the size of his "5 Hole", HOLY HELL, a blind man can score 5 hole on bobby, sad to say if he can fix that, hes my #1 choice...

although I will say I can't recall him allowing 5 hole goals BUT, I was watching him and his stance just leaves his 5 hole wide the hell open!

every goalie has a 5 hole. just depends if he can close it up quick enough. Bob shows some athleticism so we will just have to wait an see. Hes a work in progress.

he beats the hell out of leighton in that respect. it's so easy to get between leighton's legs, that thai hookers call him slutty.

as to the OP...lets not get too ahead of ourselves. let's see if he can survive a season first.

I follow goalies, and I've never heard of Hasak, so I would say Bob's probably already surpassed his career achievements.

On a serious note, Hasek at his peak was the greatest goal tender I have ever seen, bar none. Roy and Fatso included.

I think Bob has handled his duties quite well, and i am not really all that surprised to be honest about it. He seems to handle pressure very well, and he tracks the puck movement like a hawk.He will have a few bad moments and games like every other young NHL goalie has, but he has tremendous upside both mentally and physically that should serve him well as he develops.I am happy for the young lad,and i am also glad that coach Lavy is rewarding him for the hard work and dedication he has shown since his arrival to our club.If Bernie likes what he sees from Bob, Then who are any of us to question this kids talents ?

1. He worked his a$$ off in the pre-season

2. Got thrown right into the fire for the Flyers opener at Pittsburghs new arena

3. He has been working hard learning a new language

4. He is having some problems getting his girl friend over here to America.

5.He is playing on a different size ice surface in front of huge crowds

6. And he has earned the utmost respect from his coaches and team mates.

He has handled all of this quite well, and has played at a very high level......Whats not to like about this kid Bob ?

Bob has quickly become one of my favorite players in the league and probably my favorite goaltender. He plays such an electrifying style and it's hard not to respect and root for him. It's surprising that he's so good and composed at his young age. There's a few kinks in his game but he has more raw talent than any other goalie prospect in the game right now in my opinion. I really hope he stays up for the whole season and gets the majority of games as I think he has the most talent of any goalie in the Flyers' system.

Hasek was the greatest goaltender to ever play in the NHL at his prime. If BOB can be half the goaltender he was, i'll be happy.

Bobrovsky has been surprisingly good so far, and if he keeps it up a tandem of Bob/Boosh is actually crazy enough to work.

Hasek is the best goalie I've ever seen though, so let's not go there quite yet.

God, I love that line. "I'm not Tretiak, I'm Bobrovky." Balls of steel.

To the OP, I'm all aboard the Bob bandwagon, but jeez, let's give the kid at least a full season to prove he's not Bob Esche before we crown him the next Hasek.

"But I also remember one particular moment. Someone once compared Sergei to Vladislav Tretyak and he was a little upset and very quick in responding that 'I'm not Tretyak, I'm Bobrovsky'."

It's from a site that's not considered a reputable source by HF. I don't know if it's true or not, but I want to believe it is, so I'll take it on faith. If nothing else it will make a good story someday hopefully.

This reminds me of a story I once heard about Hextall in his rookie season. Supposedly Gretzky had gotten stoned by him a couple of times, and was next to Hextall after another good save when he asked him "who are you?". Hextall looked at Gretzky and said "I'm Ron Hextall, who the hell are you?"

I don't know if it's true, but I always get a kick out of that story.
