Love the guy. Only person on this team with any heart.

Deserves the C a lot more than Langs.

Reminds me a tad bit of McKay. Nothing flashy - throw the hit, muck in the corner, get the puck out, fight when needed - just in a smaller frame.

Oh and tough as nails.

He's so much better at wing than center.

from Chere article today;

Quote:
Center Rod Pelley, who still has stitches across his broken nose after being hit by a deflected Jason Arnott shot on Saturday, planned to play without a shield against the Sharks.

He said he wasn’t worried about being hit.

“Not really,” Pelley said. “If it happens it happens.”

Anybody who tells you that hockey players aren't tough should read that. Rod Pelley gets the Don Cherry seal of approval for being a tough mother****er.

Somewhat but not really. The rest of the team can learn something from him.

I agree that he's shown a ton of heart and toughness... And especially through this rough start us Devils fans better appreciate his hard work. Saying give him the C is kinda disrespectful to guys like Stevens though. I do understand we have a rediculous amount of over exaggeration going on, on these boards these days.

I don't think it's disrespectful to Stevens at all. IMO, Pelley's heart and intensity is closer to Stevens than any other current Devil.

I forgot we even had him. In all seriousness, Pelley deserves an A.

not to be douchey, but i think the fact that we have an appreciation thread for a 4th liner that hasn't sucked a giant dong for the first ten games of the season is a clear indicator of just how bad the rest of the team is performing thus far. guy took a shot in the face and came back...he's tough. so are a lot of guys that know they can be replaced if they don't show some character. i'm not knocking the guy, but to compare him to mckay or even pando is a bit of a stretch right now.

The key here is he's been playing with heart for a couple of weeks. To say... Let's make him our C is about as crazy as let's trade Parise or not resign him cause he's started slow.

why not...but Zubrus as well FOR SURE.

anyway, i dont get the point why playing w/o a shield is good? i mean...the shields protect your eyes and they don't have a bad influence on your gameplay, do they?
in german icehockey you HAVE to wear a shield!

Only Pelley's awesomeness can get Jamie to score.

I was really down on him last season, but I have completely changed my opinion on him so far this season.

I love what Chico said.

"The gritty toughness of Rod Pelley is what hockey lore is made of. The guy has eight inches, I mean eight stitches....."

No Chico, you had it right the first time .

That's the attitude we need from the whole team. Right on, Rod.
