What a Week for Cunningham

Matt Kalman had this report on Bruins prospect Craig Cunningham: http://www.thebruinsblog.net/2010/10...am/#more-10913

The Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League rolled to a 3-0-0 record last week, led by Craig Cunningham.

For his efforts, Cunningham was named the WHL Player of the Week.

The 20-year-old Cunningham, Boston’s fourth-round pick (97 overall) last June, compiled nine points (one goal) in those three victories. He continues to lead the WHL in scoring with 31 points (seven goals) in a remarkable 15 games played.

Outstanding. Congratulations to Craig.

WHL announced their US tv schedule today. Those of you with access to Fox Sports Northwest can watch Cunningham and the Giants take on Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds on Feb 18th.

Alain Goulet has 5 assists in 6 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL

SPooner with 2 goals through the first two periods tonight.

Cool opener for Alexander Fallstrom...Harvard takes on the Swedish U-20 national team on 11-1. Anyone able to check that out? Would love to see the Sweden roster and possibly trek down for that one...EliteProspects does not have the 2010/2011 U-20 roster isted yet. Admission is free.

Mikko Lehtonen is tearing it up in the SEL. 10g 8A 18p in 16 games (playing in first line with former Pheonix- and Columbus-player Joakim Lindström).
Leads goalscoring, and 2nd in points after Lindström (20p) in the leauge.

Lehtonen is no longer a Bruins prospect.

sry. Thought Boston still had the rights in NA if he would return.

You're right. He's still a B's prospect. See Bruins web site: "in the System"

Mikko Lehtonen is still in Bruins prospect in the sense that Carl Soderberg is still a Bruins prospect.

Warsofsky strikes again

Bruins prospect David Warsofsky had 2 assists in each of the two BU wins (4 total) over UMass Lowell this weekend:

Well the difference is that Mikko has said from the beginning, when he joined the club, that he will take one good year in SEL, then return to NHL/AHL.

While Soderberg is a (former hyped) player in the 2nd division with no ambitions what so ever.

There are some inherent dangers in judging prospects by stats alone. Knight has 4g/7a in 13 games (with several game winners in there), which I would hardly call disappointing anyway, but without having seen him play, I definitely would refrain from criticizing his play.

Also, if Ryan Button's Prince Albert team is anything like last year's edition, I would not expect stellar stats from him, even if he is playing well individually.

I remember Kirk talking about Tyler Randell during the Prospect Camp this year, big kid with some ability, just very inconsistent. I did not realize he was also a pretty good fighter:

Looks like a pretty tough kid? Future Bottom 9 guy that can throw and be a decent offensive threat as well? In 14 games with Kitchener Randell has 2g/2a and 33 PIM's.

October Prospect Report: Bruins Website

I've never seen this semi-monthly report on the Bruins website. All the prospects are included except Lehtonen and Soderberg.

Ryan Spooner and Steven Kampfer are featured.

Good stuff. I hope they keep it going.

I hope they're paying BruinsGod II royalties for this

EDIT: Also, Under Zach Hamill it says "Notes: -- "

...I think that sums it up perfectly.

Really? Can you provide an explanation for this? I've been to 10 of his games and obviously i see something totally different. But i'll wait for your explanation.

I've watched all London Knights game with the exception of one. Jared Knight is very probably their best forward. Certainly has the most potential. Is directly responsible for 3 of his teams wins. Don't believe that you can say this about other Knights. Stats are an interesting thing and they don't necessarily reflect a true picture. Because of the way the London Knights are structured Jared is playing with line mates that are somewhat restricted. His stats will improve as the year goes on. I'm confident that he'll exceed last years.

I'll agree jake and will add to it. First off, he is directly responsible for at least 3 wins himself, one of which i posted earlier in this thread and why. No need to bring it up again, one needs only to look back.

Knight also plays in all situations and is one of the better PK'ers on the team. The Knights as a team struggled offensively early in the season and the style of play they were using was not the style we were accustomed to watching the Knights play.

Not to mention that for the most part, Knight had been playing with basically 2 rookies. Seth Griffith and Russian import Vladislav Namestnikov, who himself struggled adjusting to the NA game, even though he could very well be a top 10 pick.He is also just begining to click. Not to mention all three are RW'ers and were playing on the same line at times.

Things you dont notice on TV watching Knight is his positioning, in all three zones. Defensively he's in the right spot all the time, has a very active stick a la Patrice Bergeron, no one on the team comes back on the back check as hard as he does. Offensively, he is always finding open lanes to set up his teammates. He gets into the open unnoticed. The problem is right now his teammates aren't finding him. He's also probably the best forechecker on the team. He takes nasty hits to make a play, doesn't retaliate when they are about to go on the PP, goes to the net with purpose and isnt afraid to take the punishment standing there.

Next time anyone goes to a Knights game, pay attention to Knight when he doesn't have the puck. If you are dissappointed now, you wont be after that.

And then there's his leadership. I've talked to Knights Asst GM Jim McKellar a few times about the vacant captaincy, and Knight is getting serious consideration for it.

So i agree that stats dont tell the story and if being almost a PPG player is a dissapointment, then so be it. Like you, i think he will be fine. Personally, i am in no way dissapointed.
