Best bet is to waive him and have a team pick him up on re-entry for half his salary.

Unless there is a team out there w/o a legit HW that has its star players get run by a division/conference rival.
Laraque got traded for Carcillo and a 3rd in '07.

McGrattan got traded for a 5th round pick in '08.

Happens nearly every year. Just have to find the right dance partner.

Why would you pity the Pens? Worst case scenario, they send him to WBS and eat a tiny contract.

Godard is effective in his role. It's simply a matter of him being made largely redundant by Engelland's emergence.

You mean the Canadiens won't give us Ryder, Halak, and a 2nd for Godard?!

What is this I dont even.....

(Seriously though, someone like Tampa might bite on it. They could use a fighter to back up Stamkos and company)

Honestly, after the contracts given out to Boogard and Shelley this year, there's no reason to think that there wouldn't be a potential market for an enforcer like Godard with a contract like Godard's.
Fair enough, I guess Godard may have some value but it would be minimal at best like a 7th.

Both Yzerman and Boucher have said they don't believe in using a roster spot on someone who just fights.
