Matt Walker

What do you think Flyers are going to do with him once he gets healthy?

Is he tradable? You think some team will want him?
Will Flyers waive him?
Keep him around?

I do not think he will outplay O'Donnell? Seems like Sean still got it. Realistically, what will Homer do? What would you do?

I don't really know, I am thinking they might let odonnell walk and keep walker. It just depends on the injury situation really.

Probably all up in the air right now.

I think he will be healthy in a few months. Then he will go on a conditioning assignment. Play a few games for the flyers then waived before the deadline for cap space. Then he will get into game shape on the ahl and be called up for the playoffs as your #7 dman.

Only player on the team that's more of a waste of space then Shelley...and that's saying something.

It's kind of hilarious that he got injured while doing nothing, but hopefully they waive him or something. Not gonna get anything in a trade for him.

He's making the Gagne deal look worse and worse. And there is no way I keep Walker over O'Donnell. SOD has been solid for us thus far.

Do you mean they'll let O'Donnell walk at the end of the season or send him packing mid-season? From what I understand, it seems like O'Donnell is probably retiring at the end of the season. Also, there's nothing in the Flyers history to suggest they're going to dump a newly signed, veteran free agent who brings qualities to the third pairing they desperately needed last year and deliberately brought here in July.

Only things he has going for him is toughness, grit, and being right handed. If the Flyers wanted to I am sure they could trade, but not for anything significant. Right handed D-men are always sought after, but like I said, won't really get anything back for him.

Depth on defense was a primary reason the Flyers lost the Stanley Cup Final. I would be surprised if Walker was moved; there will inevitably be injuries around playoff time and I'm sure Lavi doesn't want to rely on 4 guys playing defense for him in the playoffs.

Which would make sense if Walker were a capable NHL d-man or even came at reasonable cost.

I agree about the cost but he's a good bottom pairing defenseman.

Call me crazy, but I think Matt Walker could probably fetch a Simon Gagne. We might have to add though.

O'Donnell has been pretty awful. Why isn't Bartulis playing more?

Huh? From what I have seen he has been very good, except for the last game.

Not really. He is doing exactly what he was signed to do.

Just my perspective. I mean Rupp skated around him yesterday. He seems pretty sluggish on the skates and has issues getting the puck out of the zone or finding an outlet pass with pressure on him.

All I'm wondering is why Oskars isn't getting more of an opportunity especially with Walker out.

Walker is going to come back and fill the #7 role, getting some spot starts and probably getting sent down on a conditioning assignment at some point.

The defense right now is doing very well, and it would be foolish to change them up.

We are 2nd in the league in least amount of shots against.

Walker will have some value at the deadline. teams are always looking for depth on their d and also usually looking for some additional toughness for the stretch drive.

Look at last deadline, guys like Shelley, Scott Walker, Boynton went to teams lookign for toughness or depth.

I personally wouldn't mind if Matt Walker "disappeared" and was never heard from again...

He's been ok for the most part but when he is making a mistake, it's usually big.
