I am hoping hard for another great effort tonight. If they can put another little dent in Leaf Nation (who are becoming insufferable for me), I'll be a happy man.

I missed last night's game, but from what I have read, the team was going all out. The only thing missing was defense, LOL.
Maybe they swing a bit the other way tonight. Good old hacker Colby is not in tonight, was hoping somebody could give him what he deserves.

Go Rangers!! Make Leaf Nation cry.

I hear you with Stepan on the 4th line but I would think Stepan will be getting first line power play minutes so it will even out a bit.

Plus.. playing on a line with (2) Giants in Boogard and Grachev may open the ice even more for Stepan.

Agreed. I find it very hard to justify this.

Re Sauer, I'm going to have to just assume that he is not 100% healthy, because even Tortorella is not that incompetent.

I think that somewhere behind the Rangers bench is a bingo ball machine with the names of all the players on it and Torts keeps drawing the line combos from it all game long.

Gotta hope that they plan on shifting in a top 9 forward with Stepan and Grachev and limiting Boogaard's minutes to a greater extent than Stepan/Grachev.

Nonetheless, Torts' lineup decisions can only be described as baffling.

Tweeted Jesse Spector (Daily News) and he tweeted back (re: Torts on Sauer scratch again): "He didn't say why, but did say he'd like to play him more. Of course, it's his call, so..."

Predictable overreaction to Stepan playing on the 4th line.

As I recall, Anisimov played on the 4th line last season with Prust and Shelley and performed pretty well. I don't think it ruined him or negatively affected his development as he appears to be playing some good hockey right now.

I'll withhold judgment until I see how the lines look. But I have a feeling that it won't be as nearly disastrous as some are making it out to be...

Honestly? That was a simple pass anyone would have made.

Yup.

Why would you play EITHER of those players with Boogie, much less both of them?

And what exactly does Sauer have to do to play?

So this has nothing to do with Sauer's health? He's good to go? Wow...

Apparently, run around and take himself out of position to make (and often miss on) meaningless hits.

Sorry, but Sauer is actually a SMART player.

I love Torts, but this is getting pretty freaking annoying not having Sauer in the lineup. C'mon, Tortsie. Dude's a stud.

Gonna be watching this game since I can't go anywhere now. Car wash attendant destroyed my Suburban's transmission today. Fun day. They're on the hook for the cost of rebuilding my tranny, so its not all bad, except I'm stuck inside.

HNIC just showed piece on Brian Boyle training last summer under Barb Underhill, former Canadian world champion. They showed a bit about his posture before and after.

I knew he was skating better this year, but I did not know what it was he did til now.

edit: just noticed it being mentioned in a previous post. It was short but still good info

Honestly. He waited, with pressure on, for just the right moment for Staal to move into position, waited for the goalie to commit, then zipped it to just the right spot.

It was sweet. hockey I think it's called

As surprising as it is to say, because most of the time he has nothing interesting to say, the most valuable tidbit in that segment was offered by P.J. Stock. He talked about how when a player doesn't have the puck, or is not directly engaged with the player who doesn't have the puck, he should always be angling rather than skating in a straight line.

That's a great point, and something that a lot of players don't do because they don't understand it or can't do because they aren't properly conditioned. When you skate jn angles, your generating power from your edges, and should you then get the puck suddenly, or should an opposing player near you suddenly find themselves with the puck, you have that much more momentum to help get to top speed.
