Three non-NHLers and a fringe 7th dman for one of the best forwards in the game.

Reality check.

I know you would. Philly would be stupid not to.

However, the Devils wouldn't take Richards for Parise. Much less Carter. Not because we don't want them. Value is there for Richards, but I don't think we can stomach the chance of Parise waking up from his snooze and killing us for the next ten years.

Parise is that kind of player I want to see in Wild. Parise-Koivu duo would be deadly.

What would it take?

Latendresse+Barker+Granlund+first rd '11

Are we even talking about trade? I guess no...

The discussion is a non-starter if it does not begin with Burns.

You want something of value, you have to feel some pain in the return.

If the Devils were to move a top-end, impact player like Parise (they won't), they will want an impact player on the backline (of which there are few in the league and they are rarely available). Barker is talented, however he is not such a player.

Well I think it could be Burns+Late+Granlund+first... Parise is just so amazing and Parise-Koivu so sexy. Minnesota should do everything for Parise...

Wow, someone willing to actually "negotiate" (discuss) a trade! Commendable. (And super rare around here.)

if I were NJD's GM and I were open to moving Parise, I'd want that impact dman AND an NHL center, (preferrably younger) in return. Problem with dealing with Minnestoa is that they have a superb #1 pivot, then a gap with a couple of older guys (Cullen, Madden) and a journeyman (Brod). Granlund is attractive, but I can't see the Wild wanting to move him and likewise, I don't see NJD wanting to backup Zajac next season with two teenagers (Granlund, Josefson). They need a proven commodity, someone who slots in as a #2-3 center. Kind of what they were/are expecting from Arnott this season...but aren't getting to date.

I might take a chance on the disappointing Sheppard (buying "low" and he is still young, change of scenary may kickstart him), but he is damaged goods, obviously...and not enough to seal the deal.

Simmonds + Hickey + 2 1sts

Parise + Salary

Thought not as proven, a swap for Loktionov in place of Simmonds might help NJ a little more. I think the Kings could add another lower tier prospect also (Moller, Voinov, Teubert).
