BTW, someone asked about the triple minor penalty to Gillies. That penalty has been issued infrequently but the first two known examples in NHL history were called against Montreal's John Ferguson: December 7, 1967 and March 10, 1971.

Also, an update on Meszaros is that he could play tomorrow night.

Is that like Double Secret Probation?

Maybe campbell will pull the "no prior history of this sort of thing line" and give him a game.

Eitherway, I love the way briere is playing right now, feisty little guy. That was old school too, you wanna keep yapping? OK let's see how well you talk with a mouth full of wood.

He has a prior history though...

Briere was just stupid. If Nielson wanted to talk smack, all Breire should of done is point at the scoreboard and skated away. Stupid, selfish and unneeded.
Carcillo acting like a clown didnt help.

Oh, it helped. The Islanders were feeling pangs of pride. They were feeling that they might be men worthy of respect. That feeling had to be stamped out. They are just the Islanders. They are worthy of nothing except obscurity. Why? Cause **** 'em, that's why.

He has had a number of warnings, fines and suspensions according to one tweet I got.

For those asking,Briere has atleast 8 incidents dating back to 2005 that have been looked at,resulting in Fines, Suspensions and Warnings.

That's a picture of my dog with a Kapanen jersey photoshopped on her. Her name is Sami... and she's a puppy.

Reminds me I need to change it out of the playoff format.

I didn't have a problem with it. If the Isles want to start something we'll finish it.

My photobucket account has over 1800 images...the vast majority are HF stuff.

I've kept every HF shop I've ever made. Some are duplicates -- different sizes, tweaks, etc. Each season I move what I've done from my main computer to an external hard drive to save room. I have a separate file of "player photos" - good photos I use to make the 'shops, which I do keep on my computer 'cause they're easier to access.

Quite the contrary. Since Briere has come to Philadelphia, he's put up with all the other teams taking runs and cheap shots at him and not one person on this team came to his defense. He finally had enough and fed Nielson a mouthful of hockey stick. And you know what? I'm glad Briere did it and I'm glad that the next time the Islanders play the Flyers and Briere is in the lineup, Nielson will keep his mouth shut or he'll get fed the lumber again.

Some players deserve to get a stick in the mouth. If the NHL ever gets rid of the instigator rule, this incident never happens because Nielson would have kept his mouth shut. Sorry, but I hope the next time Briere shoves his stick in someone's mouth, I hope teeth and vocal chords come out with it. That play reminded me of something Ken Linseman would have done and people cheered for him.

Disagree, this is the type of chippyness that makes a team develop an identity. Briere was basically making a statement, now they need to back it up next week. I liked Briere before as a player, but so far this season he is playing with his heart on his sleeve.

This is precisely why Pronger was worth Sbisa and the picks, even if they did not ride his coattails to the SCF's the pure entertainment value of what he brings is worth every penny.

I missed the game. Was the hit on Meszaros suspension worthy or did he put himself into a vulnerable position?

Therien couldn't have been more tempered in his remarks. Kept saying "I've seen worse...not that bad..." Looks like a good hit to me.

You know what's great about the video, in with what the quotes were after the game, Pronger just talking to him. Instead of being a big tough guy, leaning over trying to hear what he said, and then just letting him go.
