Alberts was down on the ice before Hartnell hit him. It was stupid of hartnell to follow through on that hit

Hartnell is more of a dolt than Trent Hunter is.

That was also during the period where the Flyers were having someone suspended once a week.

1 for what he did
1 for his history
1 for being a Flyer

Expected.

There was also a big mistake with the on-ice officials. This wouldn't have happened if the referees would have done their job and given Nielsen a 10-minute misconduct. That doesn't excuse Briere from what he did, but it also wouldn't have happened.

Three games is too much, but we are talking about a league who gave James Wisniewski a two games suspension for an inappropriate gesture just because it was caught on camera. Imagine the **** the cameras don't catch...

3 for being a Flyer. NHL gave savard nothing for a clear cross check to the face. Suspension is a Flyer suspension through and through.

Didn't he get 5, 10, and a game?

I personally don't think that hit was that bad. I think it was "unfortunate" and deserving of 2 minutes MAYBE.

Would Briere get less games if it was a different day of the week, like Thursday or before Halloween?

To the people wah-ing that this is a "Flyer suspension," please stop. That kind of nonsense is why Flyers fans get a bad rep for having a persecution complex.

He got 3 games because this wasn't that dissimilar from his cross-check last year, which earned him 2.

The suspension is equal parts dirty cross-check and priors. It's not that hard to figure out, c'mon.

I would love to know what he said to Briere at the circle to piss him off that much.

I called 3 games while talking to my dad about this earlier.

Not surprised. This is warranted.

Hopefully Wellwood can take advantage.

It wasn't "that bad," but it was clearly intentional...

If you mean during that scrum, he was issued a 10-minute misconduct. It's in the official stats sheet.

No, that's in reference to either hitting him up when he was jawing with Briere in advance... or tossing them from the draw.

Alberts was trying to block the puck along the boards and Hartnell went to finish his hit, shame on Alberts for putting himself in a position where he was vulnerable. It is like the hit on Bergeron, lloks bad but Bergeron put himself in a position to get injured(crouched over trying to dig the puck off the boards).

That being said 3 games is a joke but everyone knew it was coming. I hope Nielsen gets a nice beat down by Shelley, turn the tables on the punk....you talk smack, you get a stick to the back of the head, lesson learned.

Maybe if you're a p-word. Use your fists, not your stick.

LOL@ all the conspirasy theorists.
Briere got what he deserved. he was stupid and selfish. I dont care what is being said to you. dont use your stick as a weapon. He is a repeat offender.
Would anyone have a problem with 3 games or any suspension if Nielson did it to Briere?
I mean come on. Is he really worried about Nielson. drop your gloves and say lets go son. Or point to the scoreboard and say its 6-1 and laugh at him.

Sounds about right to me. I don't know why people are *****ing about the league being inconsistent. If they're consistent at anything, it's at being inconsistent about suspension rulings. Briere will sit 3 games (conveniently missing the Islanders rematch), and that is a perfect opportunity for Zherdev to prove that he's not just a selfish little *****. I for one hope he takes full advantage.

The suspension is stern.

Stern, but fair.
