Something about diving onto his back like a flailing turtle when Gillies gave him a little shove?

With the size & weight he's giving up going into the corner against most NHL players, I'm never questioning the guy's manliness. I'd rather him break a stick over an opponent than his hand.

It was a bad decision by Lavy and it will cost his team.
OK, who would you have put on the ice instead, and how can you tell that that player wouldn't have ****ed up an Islanders in the same or some other way?

As for the suspension, it is fine and it is also the amount I would have given him if I had had to make that decision.

Actually, Leetch was on the Bruins then. It was in his last NHL season.

Expected.
I also expected this amount, but 2 because that was what he got last year and 1 additional for repeat offense.

Fair suspension for a stupid move by Briere. I also agree that it's 3 to prevent him from playing the Islanders Saturday and to protect both sides from any retaliation in relation to this incident. So I'm fine with that.

He did get a game misconduct, unfortunately it was too late to save him pain, and Briere stupidity

So, no, not joking.

actually if the linesman had tossed nielson from the circle when he skated across the dot to get in Briere's face, it wouldn't have happened, but I'm just saying.

Was around what i expected to be fair. Briere is an idiot, he was in tremendous form, the flyers are going to really struggle without his production. 6 goals is nothing to scoff at

I think it's a fair punishment, anything more than three would have been overkill though.

You put someone out there who is not 5'9 and a 175 pounds soaking wet. Someone that can use his fists instead of a stick. But you are right you don't know if another player wouldn't have done the same thing but its likely someone bigger or tougher is going to deter Nielsen from acting the way he did. And its likely someone bigger/tougher wouldn't have felt that he need to swing a stick to protect himself.

I can agree to send them both off with 2 minutes. But giving one or both a 10 is a bit absurd. But either way a simple toss out of the circle would have been the right thing to do and the linesmen blew it.

Briere doesn't need a stick to hurt someone, he can use his fists. But he's just a pretty smart guy, and anyone with a brain would realize that you can do a ton of damage with your stick without any risk in damaging your fists

God gives little players sticks for a reason; He never intended for the brutes to rule the earth and 5'9" guys who don't get their sticks up can have short careers.

Cross-checks to the helmet... only half as bad as assaulting a fan.

Of course it is only half as bad. There is an expectation for physical violence (to an extent) to occur between contracted employees on the ice. There is no expectation for those employees to have physical contact with any fan. For a billion dollar business trying to avoid a lawsuit that is vitally important of a concept.
