Pat Maroon being a headcase is NOT new info. I've heard it before and given what just happened, it seems the problem wasn't us, it was him.

Maroon was a crappy prospect anyway. The only reason it was a big deal was because he was the best we had (which is more a problem of our depth then Maroon's actual talent). Maroon is too slow for the NHL.

If this proves anything, it proves we NEED to keep our top 2 picks for the next few seasons as we restock the shelves in the minors.

And continue signing NCAA talent.

It would be awesome if Wellwood performs and makes Zherdev expendable.

Didn't Laliberte debut against Carolina last year?

I was ready to post the same thing. Laliberte debuted and scored.

Yes and he scored in his first two games, a rare feat.

Yup, but unluckily for Wellwood he isn't facing Leighton

Yes, that was before he started getting Reese's pieces of advice.

Wellwood looked incredibly fast and quick minded in the pre-season. I know it's not the best indication, but the kid deserved a shot.

Hopefully Wellwood shows some NHL level ability tonight, maybe it'll shut some of the Maroons mourners up.

Was coming here to post this...Maroon really ****ed up. All he had to do was bite his tongue, put his head down and grind it out. Good riddance. Let's see what Wellwood's got.

I don't think it was that simple. We may never know what really happened, but if you are such a distraction/annoyance that they have to get rid of you TODAY, something serious must've been wrong, despite Pat's obliviousness to the cause.

Honestly, I don't know. I know I saw it on the Prospect's thread months ago, but people have been calling him that for a long time now. It could've started back in Toronto, but he's been known for not dealing with prospects in the correct way; i.e. mishandling them.

I don't call him that, so you're probably better off asking someone who calls him that more frequently.

Thanks, Chris. I'd never heard of him prior to him taking the head coach position in Glens Falls.

Well, he coached the Marlies in 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2008-09. At that time, the Maple Leafs chose not to extend him.

In that time, he saw some high picks from the Leafs. As you can tell by the Leafs since the lockout, not all that much has panned out.

It's a definite cause for concern.

I was better off not knowing...

That *is* a cause for concern. I'd see if Stevens is interested in coaching in Adirondack, were I Paul Holmgren.

I believe BCF16 coined it. His rants are magnificent. They should be preserved in a time capsule for our posterity.

The kid has some wheels and was a responsible in his own end. Should be fun to watch. Good Luck

He played a good game last night. Had a couple really good scoring chances too.

Looks like he belongs in the NHL. Needs to put a little more weight on so he doesn't get slapped around in the corners as much though.

I can honestly say he impressed me. He can skate, really fast. I'd prefer him over Nodl right now. Seemed to understand Lavy's system really well too and synced right into it.
