As much as I've been talking **** about DW lately overall and in regards to Greiss, he hasn't really been helping me in justifying those comments... get it together, Ein!

Isn't European ice harder to adjust to for goalies/defensemen due to the different angles on a wider playing surface? I know Nabby didn't have too hot of a start either.

It's not an excuse, it's a possibility. I'm just not the typical Sharks alarmist.

This board feeds on negativity way too much, whether tongue-in-cheek or not.

Sounds like good news to me in literal and metaphoric form.

WTF!

last game he allowed 7 goals. SEVEN!!!

Now after the first period he has let in 2 goals on 6 shots against the worst team in the league. Is he really this bad?

no but he probably is that rusty. I mean hes played like 4 games in two years...lol. Hes not the second coming or anything but he will shape up.

Greiss takes three or four games to warm up regardless of the transition to a new team and ice.

He was also demoralized after the off season.

He'll put it together and have a good season there.

Sexsmith gave up 6 goals in his first game with the Thunder in the ECHL... Now he is the ECHL goalie of the week.

Give Greiss some time. He needs to adjust to international ice, shake off the rust, and get over a ridiculous off-season.

Greiss

I have a question for those of you who know about how this loaning thing works:

Can SJ call up Greiss from Brynas to play in the NHL this season? or no?

Thanks!

i believe they can, but there is 0% chance that it happens. for 1 they have 4 goalies in the ahl/echl that will be alot easier and cheaper to call up. 2 greiss if they did call him back to the sharks would have to go through re-entry waivers, which would mean that greiss could go to another team for half his price and the sharks would be stuck with his cap hit for the rest of this season (for playing on another team).

A small exception.

They could recall him after the SEL season (which is after the deadline) because the likelihood of a waiver pickup is very slim at that point. I don't think he will get a recall any earlier in even the most dire of any circumstances. Essentially, it would be a recall for the playoffs.

Just remember, any team taking him on recall waivers owns his RFA rights too...
