I never love to jump onto the "it's the coach's fault" bandwagon, but something stinks up there.

Yeah, there is something seriously wrong up there. . . I don't ever recall any problems like this before. Now all of a sudden Maroon and Legien and Kalinski are issues. How long has Kalinski been here? 4-5 years now? Maroon had a bad season last year. . . but so did the entire team. Legien who came to the Phantoms on fire is now a huge headcase too?

I dunno. . . but with what we've been seeing with bad players getting playing time and good players getting benched or stuffed on the 4th line and being constantly picked on. There is a serious issue going on that is not all players.

So what happens if Legien and Kalinski goes? Who scores goals for the Phantoms? Erik G? Who is going to come in and fill these open spots? Awful vets like Denis Hamel? give me a break. This is only going to make the team worse and the prospect pool is going to get very, very thin, very, very fast.

I think this shows what the Flyers think of Maroon, Kalinski, and Legeins chances of making an impact in the NHL. I never like to blame the management or coaches in this situation unless we know for sure what happened. It is possible Maroon was acting up and it was rubbing off and other players or other scenarios. Lets wait and see before blaming everyone.

Chris,
I do not know about Kalinski, but Maroon has had struggles throughout his career concerning his weight. From what I have been reading it looks like he has been eating one to many big macs again. I am not a Gilbert fan at all. But there is something deeper than we know going on there.

I still don't know how Kalinski or Legein have any right to act up or even have behavior problems. Kalinski is lucky as hell to even have both legs intact. He tries to do everything he can to even play. Legein has been trying to become something after being a high 2nd round draft choice by the CBJ. I don't understand how they can be a bad influence on other players.

We still don't know what the hell's going on up there.

I remember two guys playing for one of the top Swedish teams in the mid-late nineties while still being juniors who were suddenly shipped away from the team to a team in the tier II league, Allsvenskan. Everyone was very surprised, but it leaked out (though never officially confirmed I believe) that they'd led a hazing in the junior team that had gone way too far. One of them plays in the NHL at the moment.

It might not have anything to do with the coaching of the players as such, or anything really about how they actually play on the ice (obviously though, there is room for improvement...).

The one article mentioned that two players were removed or left the Phantoms team (forget the wording) last season. Who were they?

I know Ward is one but I'm pretty sure Clackson is the other.

Thanks, guys. It was much easier following the Phantoms when they were here in Philly.

Tony Voce was another guy kicked off the team back in '07. Pretty sure he got into a fight with Kjell Samuelsson.

I find that fairly hard to believe considering the solid training camp he had, and the strong early season. Last year maybe he was eating too many big macs while injured, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

It also seems far less credible when Legein and Kalinski are involved. You know those two aren't off eating big macs.

Partying could be the real issue perhaps?

Right now I'm just blindly throwing out theories. It's possible they were partying too much and that partying was starting to break into Testwuide, Holmstrom, Pither, and others.

It could still be a coaching issue. Who knows what's really going on up in Adirondack?

I can speculate coaching problems because it's been a pattern of this ever since Gilbert arrived in Adirondack.

That one I knew about. It was in the Inky/philly.com, but the Phantoms were in the city then, so it was easier for Philly media to cover them. Therefore, it was easier to read about them.

i mentioned this in another thread, but can we has stevens back to coach the phantoms? we could distract the LA front office w/ a class A scoring winger free agent which they wouldn't sign while we kidnap stevens.
