Haven't seen him play, guys. Size and scouting reports indicate a lack of mobility being his big issue. Can you some people weigh in on him?
Most of the mobility issues stemmed from a bad case of EXPLODING KNEES. If Valabik was a forward, he'd be Johnathan Cheechoo.
He made strides near the end of the season and was one of our best d-men down the stretch where we somehow were only a handful of points out from the playoffs (and still ended up with the 8th pick). His positioning, for one, was very solid. He wasn't going to put himself in positions where he was going to get burned by more mobile forwards. Then he got injured again, and his rehab wasn't going up to speed, so we had to send him down because we had too many defensemen to begin with.
He has potential still, but it's gonna have to be a team that's willing to wait for him to rehab completely as a project, or doing it over in Europe, which might mean never coming back.
rangers BADLY need a lefthanded dman for the 3rd pair so the top 4 guys aren't playing 25-30 minutes/game. so wouldn't be surprised if they took a shot on him. not much to lose
Always? Draft position would suggest otherwise, and my memory of Chara as a Prince George Cougar was that he was a pylon. That said, I view his development as rare, and not as a projection for any tall dman.

I meant in the NHL he was always better. Chara was always a decent-good Dman with Ottawa even before he got great
apparently he is on re-entry waivers but not being recalled. chances are they have a taker for him

Assuming Salo is injured because he is always, that's got to be the biggest bottom D pairing in the NHL, Valabik being 6'7 and 245lbs and Alberts being 6'5 and 220lbs
