Extreme knee jerk reaction trade proposal:

Tyler Myers for Zach Parise

We all know a major shake up is needed. This would be a serious wake up call. Is it feasible? Would you do this?

up until myers started being a give up machine i really thought that we were going to have a brand. I still don't think anything has changed yet i seriously doubt nj is that interested in myers. for Parise? man that would make things complicated. we would improve our offense thats for sure however knowing that team he is not the guy they ever move.

No thanks, I'd rather keep Myers.
If the Devils keep performing like they have, they'll have their own stud defenseman come this time next year.

I only posted this trade idea because of the report in the trade forum that he is unhappy in NJ and maybe looking to get out. It might be nothing, but I would sure love to have that kid in blue and gold.

well i am glad you did, its an interesting idea none the less. i agree completly about him. however it would be a weird thing to do in the shadow of signing kovalchuck. i think i would be ok with it. we might have to add to it.

plus Zach Parise plays left wing.. what would be do there? move vanek to right?

Imagine if we drafted Parise instead of Vanek.

Or Dustin Brown, or Jeff Carter, or Ryan Getzlaf or Mike Richards.

But yeah Hell no to this trade.

the most miserable what if i have is the the 2005 draft. the two players that went right before us and what we were left with... its just shameful.

#11 kopitar (that number 1 center)
#12 staal (that big defensemen)
#13 zagrapan

had we hit on this draft... i really think things would be dramatically different. and then the years we made the playoffs really hurt the pool

There was no one incredible picked near Zagrapan, so we really had no chance.
At least we didn't pick Bourret.

I'd rather have a busted prospect who can play in the KHL instead of a busted prospect who dominates the Asian league.

The most miserable part of that draft is we had the same shot at Crosby as the Pens did.

But I don't want to sidetrack this thread.

haha yeah your right. something was strange about that whole situation to be honest. how the hell did we fall to 13.. i mean that was just absurd. and it seemed like pittsburgh wasn't penalized enough for having so many high picks.

at the very least we should have been there at 11 for kopitar

Man, Parise on the Sabres would be amazing. I don't care if he's not a big guy, he's exactly what we need at forward right now. The dude works his balls off every game, is a clutch scorer, and a good leader. He'd be our next Drury but better.

I don't know if giving up Myers for him would be the right move though. Our defense is already one of the worst in the league WITH Myers. If we get rid of him, we'd have no chance of even sniffing at the playoffs this year, our back-end would be a complete joke.

If Lou really is senile, maybe we could throw Connolly, Stafford, Butler and a 1st rounder at him for Parise.

It's been reported that Darcy wanted Staal, too. But Sather was proactive and traded up to snag him out from under Buffalo's nose.

And people wonder why Regier traded up one spot a few years later to get Myers. He didn't want to get Sathered again.

Figures.... the one and only good move Sather has made in his tenure in NY and it comes at our expense.

Believe The CBA prevents an injured player from being traded----Stokes, you do realize Parise is out indefinitely (knee), HOW DOES THT HELP Buffalo?
