no-brainer of a move... can't understand why anyone would disagree with it.
Burrows is back and you insert him into the top-9, likely back with the Sedins... so the choices to send down - Schaefer - needs to clear waivers; Desbiens - needs to clear waivers; Glass - needs to clear waivers... following the pattern?
Tambellini can be sent down without clearing... you keep him up for just 2 more games, and he needs to clear waivers - and given that he's already scored a couple goals and is on a min. level 2-way contract, there's a risk you lose him by keeping him up here for a couple more games.
What makes the most sense here? Keep Tambellini up here for whatever *marginal* upgrade he may provide over someone else you send down, and then risk losing him (and possibly someone else as well), or protect the asset so you can have that depth when you really need it - as we get further into the season and then the playoffs?
Tambellini's contract (2-way at $105K, so no recall waivers necessary) and waiver eligibility made this the no-brainer choice.... you easily go with the marginally worse player in a bottom line role right now, if it means you can secure your depth through the rest of the season.
Great summation and IMO absolutely correct
To suggest we move Torres to the 4th line is just idiotic IMO
