Brandon Dubinsky started on the 4th line.

AA played his most effective hockey on the 4th line. Given that it lets teh player usually play a few minutes a night against weaker opponents, allowing them to find their game, while still playing in the NHL, its not the worst thing to happen.

Im ok with developing my kids on the 4th line.

Again it;'s been what 1 or 2 games of 4th line? Let's calm down here. In another 8-10 that;s when the thinking likely needs to shift to give them extra minutes in AHL.
I for one am not ok "developing" young scorers on the fourth line along side derek boogaard. Neithe of them need to be eased into minutes grachev has already adjusted to the NA game and i think stepan who if u didnt know already played 11 games a few of which playing first line minutes. i would like ot see grachev alongside stepan and frolov but not on the top line where frolov doesnt even play. And i dont see where you think im giving up on them from me voicing my displeasure with their talent being wasted on the fourth line.

im confident torts is smart enough to realize that my 14 yr old nephew could keep the debs to under 2 goals against, well maybe i should be so confident
if biron cant at least keep them in the game against the debs we have a real problem.
Hank needs to play against the better team and as of right now its not even debatable who the better team is, hank plays in philly.

2nded.
Play Lundqvist against the better opponent

haha watch me eat my words and Biron plays tonight and beats the flyers out of resentment against his former team.

I'm all for that, great back-up goalie match against NJ anyway! Hedberg v Biron?

Let the King beat the crap out of them.

I don't see any way in hell that someone other than Henrik plays against the Blues. Out of these 3 games I would have to say Philly and St. Louis are the toughest, start hank in those games and take your chances that Biron can keep the Debbies at least somewhat shutdown.

Because Hank's a monster against the Devils.

I'd rather play Biron this game mainly because Philly is also apt to run a goaltender.

And Boyle has been fantastic... And no, it's not because of how he's being used either. He was going to get 4th line work but his play far exceeded that and he's been moved up. You can tell the guy is playing at a lighter weight, and his skating during the offseason clearly helped in a big way. He's also playing far more physical. Torts should definitely get some credit because somewhere along the way, there was a fire lit under Boyle.

Sure why not. Might as well play Lundqvist every game. Hank could be a master of taekwando but it doesn't mean he should use it.

I would rather play Biron against a team having a much tougher time getting going (the Devils) than a team running on all cylinders.

I Think Biron can hold his own against the Devils.

what's the over/under on how many replays we see starting from the pregame from the shootout in April? my guess is at least 3 times.

I'll never get over it...

Christensen (waiver wire pickup)
Parenteau (career AHLer)
Jokinen (Jokinen)

But I'd say way over 3...like...way over.

IMO players SHOULD be brought up on the fourth line and eased into the NHL. Unless they absolutely tear it up in the AHL and are expected to be immediate producers then let them acclimate on the 4th.

Give me a break with all this stunting there growth. Stepan is 20 years old, fresh out of college and is getting NHL playing time as well as practicing with NHL players. This provides a much more rapid development than him being in the AHL with the whalepack and a bunch of career minor leaguers.

I do think we have a logjam of forwards and stepan may be better off in the AHL this year but honestly i would have no problem with him getting 5-6 mins a night on the 4th line.

If he was sitting in the pressbox most nights i'd agree that torts is trying to mess this kid up, but if hes suiting up for games, getting some minutes and gaining experience from the bench as well as in practice, it is much more beneficial to his growth as an NHL player.

Agreed, even when both the Rangers and Devils are playing terrible hockey, they usually manage to muster up enough heart to play a full 60 minutes against one another.

I can understand all those choices, Christensen was 18 for 34 in his career (above 50%), Parenteau (who scored) was 2-for-2 that season and Jokinen was 14 for 35 in his career (40%). Meanwhile Gaborik is 2 for 18, Drury 3 for 14, Callahan 1 for 5 and Dubinsky 0 for 3. The only other player that would have made sense was Prospal, who also is at 40% being 6 for 14 in his career. last season though Jokinen had already scored five times in a shootout, while Prospal only scored once (he only had one attempt though).

The outcome of course was unlucky, but it's not like Torts just randomly chose those players, and they all made sense.

I'd give Biron the start tonight. Rangers backups tend to play well against Philly (Vally).

Add in the fact that Hank's neck is probably still sore from that Boyle shot.
