Chris Drury has TWO breaks in same finger

I read this earlier today. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned. Chris Drury suffered two breaks in his finger in the Leafs game when the Rangers said there was only 1 break and the previous break from September wasn't an issue. Drury is on the trip to Philly.

Quote:
Drury explained that finger actually has 2 breaks in finger...original break became displaced, then there is second break
https://twitter.com/#!/thenyrangers/status/29681521709

Quote:
Chris Drury also here in Philly working out off-ice; no timetable for his return from broken finger yet; sees Dr. again next week
https://twitter.com/#!/thenyrangers/status/29681433633

Quote:
Turns out Drury did break his finger in the same spot as he did in training camp, when he suffered a non-displaced fracture. That became a displaced fracture that did not require surgery and he also suffered a second break to the finger. Drury said he had no doubts he broke his finger again because it was in a “weakened” state but he also does not believe he rushed back into the lineup the first time.

Quote:
Turns out that Chris Drury broke his left index finger in two spots in that collision with Michal Rozsival. One was at the same spot as the first non-displaced fracture---and now it's worse, displaced. The second one was a crack in another area. Drury said today that there may have been some miscommunication after that game.

This sounds career-ending, perhaps he will just retire?

Motion seconded.

EDIT: And he can even have a job as an assistant coach. His coaching would be worth approximately $7m, in my estimation.

He tried to come back too early. Simple as that. Thats kind of what I figured when I heard he broke the same finger.

18 more months and he's off the books. Perhaps his fingers will be healed by then...perhaps not.

All this talk of breaking bones makes me feel uneasy.

No timetable for Drury's return, it says. That's not good news, or am I reading into it wrong? If it were progressing, they'd have an idea of when he can return, right?

Well from experience in breaking bones, his next doctors appointment would probably set a timeline. It all depends on if his fingered is healing/healed/healed properly. If he gets the cast removed next week, he is probably 2-3 weeks a way. Probably can expect his return in early December.

Also, its a little unsettling that he re-broke the same fracture and created a new one. This may complicate matters. I would imagine his hand will be very stiff after being immobilized for the better part of 3 months.

Hopefully he'll still be able to use his patented 'stop on a dime slap shot into the goalies chest from the half boards' move.

The hate for drury in this thread is honestly pathetic

The guy breaks his bones doing his job and people still end up mocking him about his contract that SATHER gave him. Oh and on top of that, over the hill finger / shot jokes...classy

he should bring armored gloves since he's just a shot blocker.

While getting Drury back would be a help to this team, I'm more concerned about Prospal and Gaborik's return time.

As Rodent would say, maybe he should start blocking shots in a more orthodox manner, i.e. one wherewith you are not regularly maimed.

I would like to see Chris back. I long ago gave up on the idea of Sabres-like points that he got in his prime, but he still does a ton of great stuff. Once I adjusted my view to reality, and forgot about the contract, I started appreciating what he does.

Hope he is truly mended before coming back. Don't want re-injury, it messes with everything.

Him returning would greatly improve the team as well as improve our PK substantially. All you haters need to GTFO.
