I'm very, very impressed by all of our six D-men so far this season.
Pronger is looking like Pronger again after his slow start, which is expected because he missed camp and pre-season.
Carle looks solid with Pronger as usual.
Kimmo and Coburn took off where they finished last year.
SOD and Mesz sure are good enough to play regular, even late in games when the score is close. Good job, Homer.

Team just looks solid. Full effort, sharp passing.

I could get used to this.

How did Powe look?

Thursdays are my stats day, and I saw none of the game.

Powe was OK. He was right there, in the crease, for the wacky Zherdev goal.

Highlights are on the team's site:

Does anyone have the clip of Giroux controlling the puck and hitting Pitkanen at the same time? They talked about it on the broadcast tonight but I didn't get to see that game.

Now, you know he meant Rawah.
Is that the right phonetic spelling?

^ You are welcome. I had a salute to Sparky earlier.

Post-game article from Tim P.:

http://www.csnphilly.com/11/04/10/Fl...173&feedID=695

Quote:
Don’t duck

Dan Carcillo had a hit that rocked Ruslan Fedotenko in the final period and appeared to be exactly the kind of blind headshot the NHL is trying to eradicate.

There was no call, which incensed Rangers coach John Tortorella on the bench.

Fedotenko was bending over when he got hit, putting him in a vulnerable position. The new rules put the burden on the aggressor not to take advantage of another player’s vulnerability.

The official then gave Fedotenko some advice for next time: “Don’t duck!”

Fedotenko confirmed that after the game.

“It was a shot to the head,” Fedotenko said. “I’m sure the NHL will legally review it and see if it’s a clear shot to the head or not. I’m sure it will be addressed … I was looking for the puck and trying to shoot it, so I didn’t even see him coming until the last second. ‘Don’t duck’ was his explanation.”

Carcillo saw Flyers president Peter Luukko after the game.

“Did you get a call?” Carcillo asked.

Luukko replied that he didn’t, but was watching his cell phone.

The NHL will review the hit on Friday. As a repeat offender this plays against Carcillo, even though there was no call on the ice

“We need to keep going, but this was a chance to be first in the conference,” said head coach Peter Laviolette. “We put some wins together. I like the way we’re playing. The guys have really played hard to get to this point.

“We went through a funk there for a few games and from there we came out and played some pretty good hockey and put some wins together. It’s early, but the objective is to win games and get to the top spot.”
“We went through a funk there for a few games..." CoachSpeak for I killed a Coke machine.

I heard about Sparky earlier tonight. I had just heard that he was moved to a hospice, so it was pretty serious, but I wasn't expecting to hear this soon.

One of the very best, and I still think of him with the Reds before I ever think of the Tigers, for some unknown reason.

RIP Sparky - the game lost a good one today.

Maybe I'm seeing through my Flyers orange glasses, but it looked like Carcillo had Fedotenko lined up and Fedo ducked down (not on purpose). There's no way he was trying to avoid him, and it could have been a charge. Suspension? That would be even more a 'reputation' issue than the Briere decision.

The hit has been posted on Kukla's site.

My must have fallen off at the border. And the phonetics is hard to write; to say it like a real Quebecer, you have to roll the 'r'. My English tongue still has trouble with that, even though I've lived in Quebec all my life. After that, it's 'ruah'

Thanks, MSE. I reviewed it on the YT video posted on the main board, and kept stopping it at 3 sec and 4 sec. It was a charge and Fedotenko was away from the puck, but I'm pretty unsure about the need for a suspension. Then again, it's a no-brainer for Colin Campbell: "Carcillo? Suspend him! Wait, I guess I really should review the play."

On the right side look under the category of hits, and you'll see it.
