Channel 13 ain't no beauty queen either. KDOC shows 70-80s re-runs and movies. Channel 13 shows 80-90 re-runs and movies. I just hope the quality is better than KDOC. Blurry hockey is better than no hockey.
I want to say 1997-98 on KCAL 9. I remember watching a home game against Carolina in the hospital as I recovered from my awesome broken leg from a hockey fight during my senior year. I was so stoked that it was on KCAL 9 since the hospital wasn't piping cable into the rooms or anything.
Pretty sweet to be back on local broadcast television. While it's almost crazy to imagine not having dish/cable/fios, there is still a large portion of LA that rolls with broadcast tv only. Great way to gain more exposure while not being on a dumpy station like KDOC.
If I were a betting man, Center ice will NOT pick up the games on channel 13 since they have no agreement with KCOP to rebroadcast their feed. They MAY pick up the SD feed only for the Nashville games because Nashville isn't televising them either. We'll see.
Hopefully the precedent of the Stars games on their local channel (27, KDFI) will lead to at least the two Nashville games being on. All five would rock.
mondays game on versus was the first one I got to see on my new 52" hd tv thanks to dish and fox, but watching it helped to decide that the 180 to get out of my contract is worth it and now I'm trying to decide between u-verse and direct
When you make your choice, give them a call and let them know that it will cost you $200 to get out of your Dish contract and they will usually give you a credit to your account to make the switch.
KCOP is offered in HD, but that doesn't mean the game will be in HD. They have to rent a HD production truck to do the game like any other broadcast. Hopefully they will. The Kings TV releases usually go out of their way to mention HD broadcasts - the fact that this one said nothing about the games being in HD tells me it likely won't be. Hopefully I'm wrong.
