At the season ending press conference, Regier alluded to trying to trade him ("maybe it's time to move on"). But clearly no one wants a 4.5 million dollar, injury prone, stickhandler.

It's the same thing with Afinogenov two trade deadlines ago... no one offered anything for him. Regier said he tried to trade him, and that basically, no one wanted him. He's still here, because no one else wants him.

They re-signed Connolly 2 years ago, because they had no one in the pipeline of on the roster who could play center. They've got Adam coming along, and they have bottom tier center depth on the roster. They also have the assets to make a secondary move to acquire a center to replace him.
tht's why when you look @ Connolly, the end game is thx, but no thx, based off the injury history.....

Regier scouted him while he worked for Long Island and he Peca after a year long hold out for him.

And your opinion is different because you're a.... General Manager? A Scout?

The organization can make moves based on the analysis of the roster and locker room and whether Tim Connolly is having a negative impact or still has an ability to help the team win.

Your OPINION and my opinion are BOTH fan opinions.

You consistently attempt to play GM, as if your logic is so superior, that it removes you from the category of "just another fan, with a fan opinion".

GMs don't take talent for granted, and don't dump one of their more talented players 12 games into the season because he's playing poorly. They mix things up without sacrificing talent level.

Alot of people are saying that nobody wants to play for Buffalo so what does cap space really do for us?
The key is to trade him for a player that they wouldn't otherwise get.... a guy of close to equal talent and cap hit, that allows them to adjust chemistry and their strengths/weakensses. Tim Connolly for a guy like Francois Beauchemin or Mike Komisarek would make a fair bit of sense from Buffalo's perspective, but not at all from Toronto's because they can't afford to part with those players. They've gotta find someone who's playing equally as poorly as Connolly is who could also benefit from a change of scenery.
