you realize you are quoting a paper who thinks pavel datsyuk is a defenseman, thinks the crowd chants we want crosbys and thinks the titans hands are full of cox?
You must really hate the preds, considering that is their MAIN newspaper and anythinbg that anyone in Nashville reads about them is coming from that paper.

Why would he lie to the media/fans about it?
He has only missed a few games and will maybe miss one or two more. So it was in fact not a major injury, just like he said.
I've noticed that niche dmen are never appreciated around here. Seems like people would rather have a dman who is ok at everything (but not particularly good at anything), than a dman who can excel at a particular role. Zanon, Zidlicky, Franson come to recent memory.
Franson is what he is. An offensive dman. Sulzer is what he is. An all-around dman. It's hard to compare the two. Kind of like the Weber v. Suter debate. I'd be willing to bet that the people taking Sulzer's side here would choose Suter and the people picking Franson would choose Weber.

The argument is that Franson is solid!! and he is!! read all the replies, its alot of people saying that they like Franson and he is under rated and should get more respect,
Then there is token grinder saying how much of a liability he is....
Trotz said he has improved, and nobody denies that. Having said that he's still the 6th defenseman on the roster by a wide margin. Decent offensive skills but seriously outmatched in the defensive zone. Doesn't mean that I don't want him on the team, doesn't mean I hate the guy, just giving an honest appraisal of what I see.

I happen to like Franson, I wish he had developed a little quicker, but I'm comfortable with his play so far and feel certain that he will be a solid contributor for the Preds. At times this season he has benefited the team, and at other times this season he has hurt them, he has hardly been one extreme or the other as some have been arguing. And he's not the only one, every player has had ups and downs so far in this young season.
But my post was commenting on your view of the Tennessean. They have rarely impressed with their Preds coverage and have several times been quite an embarrassment to Preds fans. So for someone to suggest that a fan hates the Preds because they don't support the local paper is just plain wrong. I said it wasn't worth it, and somehow i'm hear trying to argue it. Thanks!

I disagree with the margin....
Franson isn't nearly as bad as some of you are making him out to be.
and Lightening Legwand, no one in Nashville reads the Tennessean sports section...
do i have to point out which stiff took a bonehead stupid penalty that came on the heels of another pp goal given up, that led to the GWG being scored?

C'mon, Franson committed that penalty against future HOF'er Fiddler. Even Lidstrom would have taken that penalty to stop Vern.

Are we really going to start pointing out every mistake made by one player?
I could start a thread on Weber and point out every time he takes a penalty, makes a dumb pass or shoots the puck 5 feet over the crossbar.
It is the definition of the whipping boy when fans start putting every single little action by one player under a microscope. Preds fans did the same thing with Zidlicky.

What about Franson's determination to get an assist on a Phoenix empty net goal?

Only if you point out Sulzer's complete boneheaded plays that lead to turnovers on breakouts. Or Cubes total out of position night, or his man missed passes and breakouts.
The only defensemen pairing last night worth a flip was Klein and O'Brien.

this is my personal i hate cody franson thread. take the other hate to the official i hate cube/ i hate sulzer/ i hate weber threads
but yeah, our d looked like the islanders last night
two guys who can give Weber and Suter time to get some air and eat minutes without allowing more scoring that the Playboy mansion.
(Klein and Boullion can do this, and frankly to a degree SOB.)
and two schmoes who can effectively eat up PP and PK time. This is where I'm iffy. Franson is the PP specialist who will eat some ES time but not much. SOB is on the team to add toughness and eatting at PK time.
BUT with the injuries the balance is a cluster. Franson can't be protected anymore. SOB is eating more minutes. Weber is being ridden like a salt coated horse after a long 10 hour ride.
Yeah, we need to switch to dissing O'Brien, he was burned worse last night.
if you are talking goal number two he was caught in what some would call a poor d-change, others would call a great breakout pass.
lightning-please explain to me the first goal. tell me my hate is unwarrented when a big guy like that tries to poke poke poke and gets burned and abused. kopitar had a laser of a shot that beats pekka, but that shot never should have happened and weouldn't if franson uses any part of his body to disrupt kopitar
I thought Franson had a really good game against the ducks. Cube and O'Brien not so much.
He did get beat wide by Jason Blake but he's not the first defenseman to struggle with Blake's speed. In fairness though, he did crush Blake in the corners all night long. It's the most physical game we've seen Franson play.
