This is crazy.
When you win 6 of 7, it has to be somebody's fault.

If that's good enough for you then fair enough, but it's not for me.
When you consider that Pronger and Leino weren't up to speed for the first several games it's a big achievement.

Also, look at all the line juggling that went on for most of those games and tell me it didn't have an impact. The Richards/Carter experiment was a disaster and that kept their line shut down for the games they played together.

Does he burn former player's cribs?

Cause he'd fit right in, in Edmonton.

Ok I'll just leave now.

It's not just this season that concerns me, it seems to be a constant thing with Carter. Even if you look at his performance last year, he doesn't ever seem to get it together and produce against the top sides. He did have a 2+2 against Pitts last year, but the rest of his multi-point games were almost exclusively against the lower sides and his play-offs were again a disappointment except for 2 or 3 big games.

Also, Carter is a 6th year professional earning $5m, Giroux is a 3rd earning ELC. There are definitely different expectations there.

My whole point is that you criticize Carter after 4-5 really strong games and then immediately rush to Roo's defense because Jester pointed out that he wasn't at his best tonight (which was true for both of them).
I'll stick up for Roo because that was his first genuinely rough game in some time. Usually, if he doesn't produce on the scoreboard, at least he's not just floating out there. In Giroux we've got a consistent performer who's doing well at the back and in the corners even if he's not scoring. Lately you can't say that about Carter.

Quote:
I mean Jesus, the team had a rough game at the end of a long stretch where they won 6 of 7 and took 13 of 14 points and people want to jump right back on the same tired dead horses as before.

EDIT: In case this isn't clear, I will reemphasize my opinion that saying "Player A had points against Team 1 and Player B had points against Team 2" is really ****ing dumb. A goal is a goal and 2 points are 2 points no matter who the hell you're playing against.

2 points against the Islanders count just the same as 2 points against the Capitals.
Sigh. Ironically i'm repeating what Garbage Goal said, but why is any criticism considered to be 'jumping on a dead horse'? This isn't a scapegoat thing, it's constructive criticism. I actually quite like Carter, however much he frustrates me.

Statistically they for sure, but i'd much rather have a player that will score goals against the big boys come play-off time than someone who can only score past the teams that are already out. I just feel that Carts can do much better. We're winning 6 in a row despite one of our best forwards not really turning it on, that's got to be encouraging. However good we've been, we can be better.
