Interesting. Candidates for a call-up are White, Palushaj, Paciorretty, and Desharnais, I'd say, probably in that order. Unless a minor signing is in the wings?
That'd cast the Sergei Kostitsyn giveaway in a worse light if Boyd had actually been a return for Sergei. But Boyd ended up being signed as a UFA, so the traded doesn't really factor in; just a low-risk signing that didn't pan out, no biggie.

I'm extremely unimpressed that Martin would continue with it. The coach panicked when he should've left well enough alone.
And I mean, Lapierre? The team badly needs a winger.
bassically , PG made a bad trade by trading SK for nothing and then made a bad singing by singind Boyd.
No.
He made a good trade by getting rid of Kostitsyn.
Then he made a low risk UFA signing that didn't pan out.

The two of them were on pace for 16 point seasons... really? Well enough?
Something had to change.
As to Lapierre *shrug* It's clear we don't have another top six winger, so he's rolling the dice, looking for chemistry.
Pouliot isn't an option because the PhD line has been spectacular so far, why break them up?
So the guy was UFA, accepted a deal with us (maybe he felt wanted after the habs acquired him in the SK deal) and now we waive him....great stuff by the management, really good, keep it up......
Sometimes a player is put on waivers as per his own request. Maybe that's the case with Boyd where he felt he wasn't used to his full potential on the team. Happens all the time.
i dont get what he has done to deserve being put on waivers. I thought he has been a decent player for us.
He hasnt been given an opportunities to succeed on this team.

I doubt so...at least not with a 24 years old player like Boyd.

For the last time, did you see what we got back for a player that led this team to the ECF? What did you expect for Sergei? We are lucky someone even took him

We're not there.
Maybe Boyd told the team he wanted to be moved if he wasn't going to play, and the team decided to demonstrate to him that this was his last shot in the NHL and he better earn that ice time.
Note: I made the above up, but it's just as plausible as any other scenario we make up.
You have to wonder what they've seen in him in the first place....Was fun Dustin...see ya.
My guess is that they wanted what was best for Andrei and Sergei, obviously Andrei would have still had Sergei on the back of his mind if he had been dumped to a team that wouldn't play him or would be putting him in the AHL or something.
I think PG knew SK would be able to play in NSH. Probably just turned out to be a team that had something they wouldn't mind giving up in order to give SK a chance.
Boyd was that guy, we gave him a shot but it didn't work out. Could have likely easily been a million Boyd type players in the scenario really.

You talking about Halak ? First he's a goalie so his value is not high as a foward or a D. Second we got Eller wich is a awesome prospect...futur 70 points player imo.
Definitely not a fan of the move, but oh well. If it's true that he'll stay in Montreal if he goes unclaimed, I'm going to assume he's unhappy with being scratched and made it clear that he'd like to be moved if he's not going to play. This is likely Gauthier's way of giving him a shot to be picked up and play for another club.
We did win the Kostitsyn trade... both Kostitsyn's are playing better now and that's what PG wanted. Sergei wasn't a fit for us and had a bad attitude. He needed a place like NSH to straighten him out. Andrei has his mind on his brother and not on the game.
Now that SK is gone he can focus on his game and AK can focus on his. We got the better player out of the deal anyways, the "real" Andrei Kostitsyn.

Yes. The chances were coming, they were just ridiculously snakebit. They were playing as well as they always have, and their only problem was bad luck. It's a problem that would've fixed itself if left alone. Changing things is likely to simply muck things up no matter how intriguing the idea of a stacked first line might be.
