That part is weird.
According to this, Boyd wouldn't be sent in the minors.
Which means, the Habs will STILL have 23 guys on the roster.

Thanks, I haven't read reports on the move and didn't realize he might stay with the team...
If he stays on the team than they shouldn't have placed him on waivers; surely there are ways they could find out whether or not he would get picked up. They know exactly the kind of interest each player gets and what there worth is...
Only put a player on waivers if you are confident that he'll get picked up or if you intend to keeping him in the minors... Now the guy has to face his teammates and staff and feel slightly rejected and probably hamper his progression; assuming nobody takes him that is.

If a guy is put on the waivers, isn't he out of 50 man list for a while? (after he passes waivers...).
And how many guys there are on this list now anyways?
I'm thinking of a few things
- Habs trade one player, gets two, but the 50 man roster is full. (Or, the Habs trade a pick for a player...)
- Habs signs a free agent, needs some place on the 50 man roster.

I think your onto something, we are either involved in a multiple player trade, or we are about to sign Guerin
I doubt anything happens, however the Bieksa rumors may come fruitful soon? as NJD are trying to pry him away as well. however, if we were to sign a free agent veteran Billy Guerin would be a good choice and maybe could get Gio and Gomy going? but we dont need drastic change if we sign anybody i hope its Guillame Asselain who was overlooked in the past draft and i believe is now a free agent, yes?
It sounds like Habs think Boyd will be claimed freeing up a roster spot for at minimum a call-up from Hamilton. That's a good move simply because it now gives them $1.4 m in cap space. If injuries are needed or the Habs want to take an extra forward on a road trip, it will be easy enough for them to move players up and down from Hamilton. Boyd wasn't contributing anything here.
Also, MAG's been tweeting that he thinks the OB situation will be resolved soon, which I guess likely means he will be traded or waived.
I like the fact that PG isn't sitting on his arse but is at least trying to address some of the issues that are obvious with the Habs right now.
