That would be "only in our dreams" - teams would kill to have their depth at wing. Benn, Eriksson, Neal - those are 3 of the more solid young studs in the league. I would be pretty peeved if my team traded any of those guys. Benn would cost us Subban, or Eller. He's going to be that good this kid. Remember, he was a one man wrecking crew against the Dogs last year in the playoffs. Without him, they were nothing.

I agree about Desharnais. I don't care how much Gomez is being paid. Play him on the 4th line till he wakes up and call up Desharnais.. He's one of the best centers in the AHL this season. At one point in Gomez's career he has to admit to himself he's overpaid and just get treated like he's producing.

I'm not saying to stick him in a hole somewhere to rot. The Habs have players in Hamilton under contract to play in Montreal for a reason.. If one is making $0.6M and the other making, $8M just be happy if one of the two can produce and use that one. Desharnais can't be any worse as Gomez these days. So give him a try already... If it doesn't pay off after a few weeks you still have Gomez and hopefully he'll wake-up a little!

Most likely making room for MAB.

I doubt it's something bigger, because one would think that the Montreal media would be getting some leaks of a "major trade" coming, or something like that.

OTOH, I don't think that it's nothing at all, because why waive Boyd unless its to make a roster spot to add a player via free agent signing or trade?

Him or Spacek should sit a game here and there, they are not playing well and we need to get OB and Picard a few games.

This is what will happen. If you put someone on waivers you don't have to send him down. But you can any time in the next 30 days if he in fact clears waivers. It gives PG flexibility to instantly free up a roster spot should he need one in the next month - for a call up, signing, or trade.

The Leafs did this with Zigomanis - he cleared at the start of the season, then finally got sent down to the Marlies last week.

The more I think about it the more I lean towards Boyd having asked to be shopped around. I know I'd hate to watch from the stands every second night.

It's not like we're short that type of player. So to me it makes sense that the Habs would put the guy on waivers to see if there was any interest. The more I think of the way JM dodged the questions about it and kept saying we'll just wait and see makes me think that something like that is the likely scenario.

The others (trade, UFA signing) are too far-fetched imho and to me it's slowly becoming the only logical explanation.

And there is no way the Habs sign Guerin if you ask me unless you can only play the guy on the PP. We are a team built around speed. I don't see Guerin fitting in other than on the PP.

Bieksa and Samuelsson for Pyatt and O'Byrne.

Vancouver only has three centers and need size on defence.

I am a little worried that Gillis asks for Gill.

I doubt Vancouver moves Samuelsson...at least not for that price. Plus, we can't fit those players on our roster...6.25 mil in and 1.4 mil out.

Based on tonight's PP, it's gotta be MAB.

Bringing up from the AHL

I was thinking that now is a perfect opportunity to bring up a player like Desharnais, this guy might be small but he has proven that he can produce at all levels. The guy is going to be an RFA after this year and it wouldn't hurt to give him a go to see whether he can help cammy/gionta regain their scoring touch. Try him out for 10-12 games and if he doesn't pan out, then we can end the experiment and we'll probably have an idea whether he'd still have a future with this club.

Can I have your thoughts???

We have a full team in Montreal with 23 players on the roster. Martin indicates Boyd won't be sent down, so until there's an injury or trade, no one can be called up.

But yes, I think Desharnais needs to be given an audition as soon as possible.
