My thoughts on the matter,

Up front we are looking solid. The possibility of that Dubi-AA-Cally line playing weaker opponents on second line duty once Gab comes back is very exciting. We would have a legitimate group of forwards for the first time in a long time. Fro/Prospal-Christ-Gaborik as a top unit is pretty average but Gaborik can carry his line so it's not bad.

The Dubi-AA-Cally line is looking more and more like a 1C line which if played on the second line could become even more productive, watch out.

Avery-Boyle-Tank is a 3rd line I really like. I'm excited to watch them grow. We have so many interchangeable 3rd liners from Prust to Fro (who's arguable better but w/e) to Avery to White to Stepan? to Tank to Boyle...

Our 4th line, the remainder of the 3rd liners. Should make for some exciting hockey from here on out...

Our D is our weak point for once...

Outside our top 3 of Rozi-Staal-Girardi who do we have?

MDZ is showing a SERIOUS sophmore slump and Gilroy aint far behind. Both have been disappointing so I think the Rangers should really make a move for a top 4 D man to help round our this team. MDZ/Gilroy/Eminger/Sauer are all fine bottom 2 pairing guys so we can mix and match.

As much as I love the effort where everyone is giving it there all and leaving it all on the ice the NHL is a tough league and injuries will mount and people will get worn down. Either we start resting players when the game is in hand (which rarely happens), or the Rangers will not look good by the mid-season point.

Absolutely...

Secondary scoring is finally here.

And they may have a legitimate final pair on defense too. Just need Del Zotto to stop his goal a game screw ups.

Yeah, My thought exactly. Once Gaborik and friends come back we should have a legitimate offense.. Top to bottom..... and then some. Keep in mind we also had the same secondary scoring last year at the start and where did that go.

On Defense I'm somewhat skeptical. I really thought Gilroy would take steps forward and we would be pretty solid.

Between Rozi, Staal, Girardi we only needed one of MDZ or Gilroy to take a real step forward and play well in their own end... That hasn't happened, YET.

Yeah, I voted Likely but it's really anyones game. A lot of average teams this year. A lot of parity. Should be interesting how the team plays with Gaborik back. I'm pretty excited.

Looking at the East: Philly, Washington, Pittsburgh should definitely make the playoffs. Pitt has struggled but you know they will pick it up. Boston should make it, Montreal too. The remaining 3, until the Devils are dead I'm not counting them out, they're better than us. Tampa, has a ton of fire power up front. They could make the 7 or 8 spot, but as usual they're going to be fighting Ottawa, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo for those spots. All those teams have more talent than us.

None of those teams have more talent than us... Except maybe Ottawa..However, 2 points

1) Teams with more talent miss the playoffs all the team. Heck, Philly was 1 Shootout away from missing it last year

2)Those teams do not have more talent than us and regardless it's not just about talent...it's about chemistry, about players buying into the system, players caring about the team. The Rangers right now are emulating just this and I think could beat any one of those teams you mentioned in a 7 game series...

While I like our chemistry and the team standing up for each other I just don't see the cylinders all firing at once. Right now there's injury issues... when Gabby comes back does he have a slow start? Can the Pack line play consistently well when our primary scoring kicks in? The D has looked sporadic & inconsistent at best.

I say doubtful but I'd love to be proven wrong.

50/50. BTW, we need a line graph .

BTW, I think this poll should be done monthly until about the All-Star break. It's way to early for a poll like this to be done every 5 games.

With the cup already belonging to Toronto we might as well just tank

I say 50/50 it's too early to judge in my opinion some teams are still overachieving and some still haven't found their groove.

50/50 chance for the past 17 years. It calls mediocrity.

The vote should be: (will the rangers make the playoff ???) Aren't you tired of asking the same question over and over again?

And by the way I voted 50/50

Not enough results for a graph yet. Give it one - two more polls.

Also, Read my response below.

Everyone will begin to shift there answer as the result becomes more and more evident. It's gonna be nice at the end of the season to look back and say well, that's when they really showed us what type of team they are.

what's interesting is everyone has a different attitude of what Likely and Probable is so it's not exactly the numbers that are important but rather the change in numbers from week to week

50-50.

Our record right now, indicated that we have a 50-50 shot or so.

We have a history of fast starts, which works against us but we have reinforcements coming in December in Prospal and Drury which could really help us.

Toss up right now. We've got a peak of 5th and a low of maybe 12th.

50-50. Easy to choose based on the record, but we've been seriously propped up by the Pack Line and Boyle's timely scoring. Who says that doesn't slow down? How does Gabby assimilate into the lineup, and everyone else respond?

While the Rangers aren't falling well below or flying way above expectations, the same can't be said for a lot of the teams in the East. Ultimately, it's the fortunes of the overachievers and underachievers that dictate the fate of the posters boys for mediocrity.

I'm 100% sure they'll remain contenders for the 8th spot. How's that?

We're Ranger fans, if we've learned anything over the last 60 years its how to spot mediocrity

I do mean it in the best possible way.

It's a "devoid of dynamic offensive players" kind of mediocrity as opposed to the ever popular "shockingly poor performance on the whole" brand of mediocrity we know so well.
