I also like the show and I'm (slightly) over 35.

Patrick: *whistles*
SpongeBob: Patrick, I didn't know you speak "Bird."
Patrick: No, SpongeBob. That's Italian.

Yeah, the guy who makes it is hilarious and has been in some other shows/stuff I like.

I crack up whenever I throw it on.

Lots of man love for this kid. Humble, grounded, dedicated, selfless, and determined. I've never been this excited about a Flyers prospect; it used to be Claude Giroux, but Bob's more intriguing solely because of the position he plays.

Pretty damn impressive frame of mind.

Who in the Flyers organization had to sell their soul to get this kid?

Ummm I dont think the translation carried over very well. I know you were being sarcastic, but I do not think the Russian word he used to describe our defense was meant to be translated to decent.

Or he somehow picked up on street slang in Philadelphia. When people say something is decent they really mean it is amazing.

Used in a sentence. This cheese steak from Jim's is decent.

Yea it makes no sense but that's slang right?

Although this situation is impossible and I agree with you. I think something was messed up in the translating.

The irony of this is that he was scouted by an ex-Bruin scout who recently was working with some of our Euro scouts on the KHL players, he mentioned Bobrovsky and the Flyers pursued him without seeing a heck of a lot of film. They basically just took his word and set out to get this kid signed.

Here’s a little unknown gem about Russian goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

Neil Little, who oversees the Flyers’ worldwide scouting of goaltenders, pushed general manager Paul Holmgren to sign Bobrovsky based solely on video.

Little never actually saw “Bob” in person. His recommendation was based entirely on reports supplied to him by Russian scout Ken Hoodikoff. That’s virtually unheard of in NHL scouting.

“Bobrovsky was different than most of our prospects because we didn’t see much of him – only Ken did,” Little recalled. “His reports were fantastic. We saw some tape and I felt it was quite eye-opening for myself and [goalie coach] Jeff Reese.

As excited as I am that Homer did good signing Bob, that kind of scares me that our scouts aren't actually seeing the players they're supposed to be scouting.

Wow, still drinking the haterade even though Leighton hasn't played a single game and in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with him?

Leighton haters, we get it, you hate the guy. But the inane personal shots at him are just ridiculous. It's enough already.

My post about Bobrovsky getting his baptism of fire was almost laughed at by quite a few members because i only saw video of him and never saw him play live which made me somehow not credible to judge his talents by only watching film. Seems the Flyers staff did about the same thing and then put their money down. The videos i saw showed me enough to realize BOB was no ordinary rookie and deserved his shot.He certainly has earned it to date.

Meh, I don't know about all that. He seems like a decent guy, just don't really love the idea of him as the go to guy in net.

I feel as though Bobrovsky has some compelling need to tap every one of his defensemen every game.

I counted all but a tap for Pronger tonight.

Not complaining. It's kind of funny to watch.

EDIT: Also, Neil Little went overseas to check out Rynnas. It was reported that he spent time looking at Bobrovsky during that trip as well. Not sure where this is coming from that nobody ever saw Bob play outside of game tape.
