Surprised to see that O'byrne is still worth something.

Anyway, it's better to have a developping player (Bourn) than a non developping one, isn't it?

I like a GM that understands he can get a better player in the future by trading a stagnant prospect today instead of just sitting on his stagnant player saying, "Hopefully... hopefully..."

Too bad for O'Byrne. We needed his size on the blue line.

In the process, the Habs saved around 1 million $

Should be a good one tonight against Chara,Thorton,Lucic, etc.
You must have slept through the off season where they added Picard(6'2" 215lbs), Halpern(6' 203lbs), Eller(6'2" 198lbs), Boyd(6' 198lbs)and graduated Subban(6' 215lbs)

O'Byrne will be remembered because of the purse incident and the goal in his own net.

this tells everything about his value to our team.

From TSN:

"Ryan O'Byrne was pointless in three games with the Canadiens this season."

Talk about your double meanings...

Maxwell and Carle are on their way out as well imo.

His stats say otherwise. A 3rd line C at best.

Not saying I disagree but really both moves made sense.

Boyd waived, because there was no place for him on our team and the org wanted the kid to get picked up so he could play rather than sitting in the press box. Obviously also the salary cap too.

O'Byrne traded, I predicted this a while ago, it's pretty obvious why, he's a #6-#7 d on many teams still and needs a chance to play. Keeping him in the press box isn't going to help the guy he needs to play and also again salary cap.

Imo it easily could be just because the org doesn't want to be known for sitting an NHLer in the press box an entire season but it could just as easily be for the cap space to make a trade or signing.

Yeah he would've brought a big element to the game tonight with his intimidating pressbox presence.

CKAC interviewed Bournival this morning to talk about the experience he had against Russia and the fact that it was said he would be considered for a World Junior spot....Seems pretty bright and focused....but just a good coincidence that we traded for a guy we talked to the same day.....Who do you want to be interviewed now? Stamkos?

For your information Vancouver is taller and bigger overall than the Bruins. http://www.eliteprospects.com/league...php?leagueid=7.... and the Habs just beat Vancouver 2-0

VANCOUVER : 186.54 cm 91.81 kg
BOSTON : 185.23 cm 91.31 kg

Oh, sorry, you're right. A guy who can't produce more than 10 goals and 14 assists in 17 games in the QMJHL as an 18 year old can never be anything more than a 3rd line C.

Dreger said the Canucks were waiting for someone to get healthy before the deal went down (we thought it was Salo, but it may have been Hamhuis)

Canucks may have scratched Ballard to see how Alberts + Rome would handle themselves as a bottom pairing if we move Bieksa. To see how we'd be able to handle ourselves before Salo comes back.

The Habs clearly have something bigger coming, waivers and moving O'Byrne is clearly making space for a bigger deal here.
Not necessarily, they have guys doing well in Hamilton and two guys in the press box not playing and have to go through waivers to send down.

I think the plan was to sign Picard in case Markov was out 2-3 months, then he played pretty well and Markov came back early.

I also think he was a good teammate

but, it's still something that didn't happen on the ice.

I would had like a trade with Edmonton (who got lots of cap space).

O'Byrne and Boyd for JF Jacques (who is back from injury and plays in the AHL for reconditioning). Jacques makes only 600K and is big and a good bodychecker. Something that could have been good on our 4th line.
