Been there, done that! Lots of times!

Same old responses. Personally, I like it for the Leafs only if Savard is healthy. I don't mind his contract as such. He's paid fairly, albeit on a very long term deal. We need a Savard in the worst of ways.

Doubt either team makes this move.....Leafs because of Savard's concussion issues, and Boston because they might not want to make the Leafs better if Savard recovers and becomes the true #1 center the Leafs desperately need.

Toronto's latest stretch, to me, has really shown how valuable Phaneuf was to the team....and possibly how little Kaberle means to the team right now. With a group of highly paid d-men and zero offense, something's gotta give and you know Burke's wanted to move Kaberle (at fair value) for a while now.

I think it's a lateral move for both teams. I realize that Boston doesn't wanna make Toronto better, but do you think they'd turn down the PMD they want?

Kaberle could be the catalyst for a SC final run. Plus we know how Boston players do in Toronto! They turn 22nd place teams into 29th place teams. Nothing to worry about really

Kaberle is playing well, though. I've been happy with his play. He's been relatively healthy throughout the course of his career so fans haven't really been used to life without him. That's what tells you how important a guy really is to your team.

If Savard comes back and recovers from injury and Kaberle signs with Boston I think it would be a great deal for both sides IMO

Beating a dead horse. :. Pretty much because of Kaberle.

Bruins need to shed salary and SAVARD for KABERLE actually means Boston takes on some salary, not much but certainly the wrong direction in order to become cap compliant. I also don't see Boston making a deal that might help Toronto get better. They have TO's 1st rounder and if the Leafs keep playing poorly, it could be a very good pick again this coming draft.

In case you didn't know, this proposal has been discussed many times.

I'll try to sum up the resposes for you.

Leaf fans think Savard, since he has been injured is not enough to get Kaberle and that Savard, at a $4 million cap hit, has a bad contract because he is actually getting $7 million for the next couple of years and will probably retire in 4 years.
Couple those with the fact that the Leafs are not exactly ready to make the jump to being a cup contender at the moment, trading Kaberle for a younger player would be the wise move.

Bruins fans think that Savard is worth more than Kaberle, especially since Kaberle would basically be a rental and TO would either have to add a prospect/pick or take back more salary such as Paille or Ryder and even then, knowing that no GM in his right mind is trading for an injured Savard, think that if Savard is traded it will be after he has proven that he is back to at least near how he was playing before he was injured, and a healthy Savard is worth more than Kaberle any way you look at it. Add in that making the Leafs a better team would directly effect where the pick that is owed to the Bruins for Kessel ends up being, so that has to be figured in as well.

Those were some of the more intelligent points that were brought up, there were a lot of trolling attempts as well.

I'm sure I missed some valid points on both sides, but that will fill you in on why a lot of people of both fan bases think it won't happen, or at least don't think it should happen.

I guess I should've pointed out that I only brought up this proposal because Kaberle's been pretty decent and Savard is almost ready for action now.

Thanks for filling me in, but I already knew that. I was just seeing if anyone had actually changed their minds.

They don't have $250k left in cap space? And it will only be for the season, since Kaberle is heading to FA.

Not to open up old wounds, but I'm a little inclined to think Burke will be a little gun shy when it comes to any proposal involving Boston.

i don't think chiarelli has any intention whatsoever in helping the leafs with a worse draft position. none

When Savard and Sturm come off LTIR, the Bruins would be $4 million over the cap, so they have to move at least $4 million without taking on any kind of salary at all.
