According to a report out of Phoenix, Calgary Flames forward Brett Sutter has been arrested for assault.
The 23-year-old Sutter was jailed early Thursday morning after allegedly punching a bar patron and was released on bond an hour later, according to the report.
A spokesperson for the team told myfoxphoenix.com, ''We were immediately made aware of the incident by the individual involved and are in the process of gathering more information to have a full and clear understanding. All appropriate people have been notified. However, due to the routine police process required, we are unable to comment any further at this time.''
The son of Flames GM Darryl Sutter and nephew of head coach Brent Sutter, Brett was a sixth round selection (179th overall) in the 2005 NHL draft.
The Flames are in Phoenix to take on the Coyotes Friday night.
But lets be realistic, hockey players get arrested all the time and are always getting in **** in bars all over the place. It is their nature. Anyone that has plays hockey know's the atmosphere when the team goes out to a bar/strip joint.
I imagine Brent will look something like this:
That is, if he wasn't ****faced in the bar with them...
Ho boy... When I first heard I thought it was Brent Sutter who got in a bar fight. That was amusing. This is still slightly amusing.
For every arrest made after a bar fight, there are 100 that aren't reported. Sutter just got in the unfortunate position on this one. Was it the right thing? No. Do I condone it? No. But is it that big a deal? No.
