Frank Seravalli said this in his chat last week:

"2:45
Frank Seravalli: Almost every player I've talked to down there (5+) say there is an issue with Gilbert. But little seems to be done about it. Holmgren gave him a vote of confidence on Friday."

Question is how long does Gilbert have? Days, weeks, or months? Clearly he has lost the room down there and the longer he stays the worse it is for prospect development. Hamel is an AHL star, but he is not enough to save them. Something has got to give greater than Maroon's dismissal.

Yep something is wrong there for sure. I think Ranford had a hat trick last night. I believe I saw it in the haze before my first cup of coffee this morning.

You probably need a change for change sakes at least at this point. As i said before really looks like Shooter is detached from the whole situation imo which is not good. He needs to be more involved.

That's about it for bright spots this year.

Our offense is god awful, and Backlund is not getting it done.
Well i guess opinions will vary. You have watched the games and have formed this opinion. Besides on the pp, those 2 have been not so good in the defensive end. 5 on 5 they have not stood out at all. Gus is good with the puck no doubt but he needs to improve 10 fold defensively.

Well duh. I hate that we lost Maroon over this nonsense.

You mean through Hockey's Future?

All the updates from the summer are typed up. I'm working with Ian now. Maybe I'll change a bit before they go up.

RT @PSPhantoms: Game misconduct and 5-minute major for boarding as Rinaldo kills D'Amigo face first into glass. D'Amigo bloodied and helped off.

...but it's ok, he'll be great in a Flyers sweater...

We should also note this isn't uncommon from Rinaldo. Guy pulls something bat**** crazy once or twice a year.

He didn't have to go after D'Amigo though, it was uncalled for. He's a Leafs prospect, his career is already destroyed.

Tim McManus seems to think what John Paddock thinks, which is that it shouldn't have been a penalty.

True, but they are getting a little cocky over there with their unstoppable list of intangibles.

Ugh, another embarrassing loss where the anemic offense scores 1 goal (0 for 7 on the PP) and Backlund allows 5 on 21 shots. This team, simply put, is putrid.

I thought the team played better. Still not good enough, but it's a young team that is still learning. Our defensemen have a serious problem with breaking the puck out of the zone. Even strength, it goes to anther forward, who walks in and gets a high quality scoring chance. On the PK, they can't get it out because they try to power it along the boards, leading to more time in our zone.

Phantoms have been outshooting the other teams. They just need to clamp down defensively and stop making as many stupid mistakes.

Legin played his best game of the season yesterday. Power play looked much better than it has so far. The team is mired in a horrid slump, but I think could be starting to turn things around. Gonna be a painfully slow process, but it's starting.

Certainly on paper stopping 16 of 21 shots is very poor. How bad was Backlund last night?

Obviously you aren't going to win a lot of games when you only score 1 goal, but on the flip side, you aren't going to win a lot of games when your combined GAA is over 4.5 either.
